Exactly how important is the heat shielding located above the stock muffler? I can squeeze a bit more clearance out of my intended setup if I remove that.

Please disregard the ignorance expressed in my last post. After a few minutes research I was able answer my own question. I also found a fairly inexpensive heat insulating mat that I will be applying to the underside of my jeep where the stock heat shield currently resides.

seems like lots of work for something that has no benefit besides a look but some times that's worth the effort too

More than anything it's about the project itself for me. I have never had a vehicle worth modifying before my jeep, and never done more to my jeep than add a few grab bars. It was time to get really dirty. This seemed like an inexpensive way to get started.

Mine is low and always hits on the speed bumps at the mall, haha just kidding but I do hit it on the rocks because it hangs pretty low

I don't think mine will hang any lower than this. More of it will hang that low, but I don't think it will hang lower. I don't get out on the trail often enough, and don't get crazy when I do. My jeep is still 90% stock, and only 10% paid off.

Sorry to hear that. I can't imagine it was gonna sound good, unless you had a V8 with x-pipe and dual exhaust.

But you tried.
