You have a good eye. That's definitely an old fracture; and a big one at that.

Neither of those depict a stock shaft. A stock shaft uses CV joints, not U-joints.

I agree with what was said about the shaft having damage. You can see part of the break is fresh grey metal and some of it is rusted. Strange that would haven't have felt any vibrations prior to this. Just lucky nothing else got damaged.

unless he was driving in 4wd on the highway (which is obvioulsy a bad idea) this has to be prior damage from the trail that shook free on the highway

Prob would only feel vibrations in 4wd... if damage was on a slow trail and you shifted back to 2wd you wouldn't notice untill it finally gave out.

Just got home and can't find the printout from the alignment. Going to see what the dealer says. I figure with the rust I must have smashed it, causing a crack and eventually it weakened until it blew.

Just go back to evo and get a better DS... sucks it will set you back $400-500 but you will be better off in the long run

Called them already They recommended a JE Reel 1350. I was thinking of doing it myself since I took the broken piece off the flange tonight. But since it blew up I'm worried about any transfer case damage or gear damage.

They only charge $110 for the labor which seems more than fair and is probably worth the piece of mind.
Thanks
