Agree with the 99.9%. The Zeon was my first choice, just couldn't justify the money for it. After all I read and for the price Engo was an easy second. Got trucklites and an Engo for about $400 less than the price of a Zeon

I saw a picture online of a guy who used an engo to winch out all his buddies. He showed an "after" pic and it was literally frozen With icicles on it. He said it was submerged and beat to hell and saved them all with ease.

That and the price sold me.

Guys, here is Engo's installation instructions. It shows the wiring on page 5.

The confusing part about the install was the inconsistency throughout the instructions and diagrams. The terminals on mine were mislabeled (black was yellow and yellow was black). There were also numerous misspelled words which doesn't exactly inspire a great deal of confidence. Couple that with another poster stating that it was incorrect to put the black battery terminal and the skinny ground wire on the same terminal under the winch motor (made sense to me as well at the time). The end result was uncertainly to say the least.

All in all, I appreciate everyone's assistance with the install and am very satisfied with the final product.

The instructions were a little off, but at least the winch itself has color tabs on the motor so you know what goes where. That's an area they can improve on.

I know I started this thread as "Engo Install Fail" because at the time that's what it was and I was looking for some advice... but I just want to say that now that everything's been sorted out I really am happy with it. This thread was in no way meant to bash Engo... I'd buy this winch again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a winch. Though I haven't actually needed to use it for a full out self-recovery, after what I've read, the build quality of the winch, and the initial test pull after I finally got it up and running, I'm confident this thing will pull me or whoever else out of whatever mess we come across.

So for anyone thinking about an Engo but you're hesitating, don't. For the price and the quality of the product I don't think you can beat it. Not to mention the customer service... Joel at Engo spent a while on the phone with me going over everything when I initially couldn't get things going (on a Sunday no less), and was about to send me new solenoid and controller to see if that would fix it. Thankfully he didn't have to because it was a simple reconnecting of the wires which fixed whatever initial short there may have been when I first installed it.

X2. I wasn't bashing it either. I'm quite pleased with the winch but felt the instructions could use some work.

Like you, I'd recommend this winch to anyone.

It took some work, drilling and grinding but it's installed and working. Let me know if anyone wants any other different pictures. I had to cut off all of the 90* part of the compressor clutch but I welded up a tool to engage and disengage. I can also use needle nose pliars. Attachment 409433Attachment 409434Attachment 409435

I'm having issues with the winch clutch on mine. How far is the handle supposed to rotate? Mine goes from the out position (straight down) to not even half way up. Anyone else with this issue?
