You have to request the update for an 07 from the dealer and they charge you to do this. You could pull the f7 fuse to disable. Just put it back in if you don't want toggle switches everywhere.

I pulled the fuse at about 500 miles and have never plugged it back in. Too bad the lights are on in the dash but its sure better than esp.

I'd probablly put it back unless you don't like the options that the fuse controls like ABS.

Second, you can't turn ESP off fully in 2WD without modifying your Jeep... in 4HI, you can partially OR fully disable ESP:

To partially disable ESP in 4HI, press the ESP OFF button... this'll put the ESP into a more lax mode.

To fully disable ESP in 4HI, press and hold the ESP OFF button for 5 seconds; you'll hear a chime and your odometer will say "ESP OFF" if you're successful.

In 4LO, ESP is automatically disabled for you.

Happy Jeeping!
This is not completly true. On later 07s and all 08s there is a code that you are given in the factory manual that completly disables esp until you enter the code in again. Thats what I did since i can't find any reason to have esp on on the road.

I put the switch on mine. I used the esp thread in the writeups section. Works great. Even hid the switch on the console so it's not noticeable.

Not to sound like the Ninny here but time Out Folks!
As I read through this thread I am getting more and more incredulous....Not to sound like a smartass here but has anyone considered the design of the ESP system and what it's designed for... perhaps even why for normal on-road driving you might want to LEAVE ESP ON?

It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that the stability systems becoming standard in cars and trucks and Jeeps is starting to save many lives on our highways. (You can google it for yourselves if 'ya don't believe me).

Something like 40,000 Americans die in wrecks every year.

(Some food for thought before you disable the system for on-road use.)
