Did this mod today. Took an hour and a half because I cut the wrong wire first. Would have only taken 45 minutes. I used crimp style connections and heat shrink tubing instead of tape. Now I have desert racer mode. Great write up except the minor detail about which purple wire with light blue stripe.
Just confirmed this today, the straight wire is the correct one. I wanted to hide my switch too but didn't have anything really easy under the dash so this is what I went with. Not really "hidden" but it is out of sight.

I put my switch under there too. I can hit it with my finger while my hand is on the shifter. I like it hidden.

I have done this mod and im getting a code thrown after driving for a while. error c2114 dynamic sensor low voltage. is this bad or can i just clear the code when eva it comes up ?

I am incredibly jealous... I'm from Colorado and lived in Wyoming for 7 years but am in Oklahoma now and haven't seen a single snowflake yet this winter :( I want to play!
