If I were you I would get some rocker protection right away. They are quite vulnerable especially on a 4 door. Maybe some used Rubi sliders. Get a shovel, some tools, a snatch strap and a Hi Lift Jack. If it doesnt have them already recovery points. Find someone else with a 4x4 (preferably a Jeep but there are other 4x4s out there) and go play. Oh dont forget a fire extinguisher and some basic 1st aid stuff and extra snivel gear for your climate.

No matter what you do, I recommend doing a lot of reading and not "settling" for any mods just b/c they are a bit cheaper than what you actually want.
I haven't even had the Jeep for a year, and have already had 4 diff suspension setups, and 3 diff sets of tires (Including the stock stuff.) Would have saved me a lot of money if I would have skipped the stuff in the middle and just gone for what I really wanted.

Enjoy the Jeep!!

Best mod on my Jeep is the driver attitude adjustment. No top, no doors, no problem.

Every reasonably warm day I leave my uptight office job behind, get in my jeep and remind myself what freedom feels like. I know its too cold in Maine but you will be surprised how long a few hoodies and seat heaters extend topless season. After awhile every car feels like a cage.

Have fun and welcome to the life.

Thanks for all the tips so far!! I took it down a few muddy logging roads this past weekend and fell more in love with it! I definitely love the mud and looking for some trails around here to take it on stock to see what I need. I'm saving every extra penny right now for mod fun. I've been doing tons of research, for years about jeeps and everything to do with them, so now it's time to get serious (or have fun really) with it. I'll be looking into the 2.5" lift kit and doing all that at once. Thanks again for all the tips! Keep me coming!!
