Anyone know the width of our rear axle off the top of their heads?
Here's some width's of common 9's...One of them may be close enough to swap right in... You'd have to have all the brackets and whatnot made - but hey - It would be sweet!
1. 1965-1966 Mustang 8 & 9-inch housing width: 52¼".
2. 1967-1970 Mustang 8 & 9-inch housing width: 54¼".
3. 1971-1973 Mustang 8 & 9-inch housing width: 56".
4. 1957-1959 Ford big-cars 9-inch housing width: 52¼".
5. 1960 model T-Bird 9-inch housing width: 52¾".
6. 1975-1980 Granada/Monarch 8 & 9-inch housing width: 52¼"
7. 1977-1980 Lincoln Versailles 9-inch housing width: 52¼"
8. *1957-1972 Ford pickup 9-inch housing width: 56"
9. 1973-1979 Ford pickup 9-inch housing width: 59¾"
10. 1966-1977 Ford Bronco housing width: 52¼"

Hmmm...I don't have a JK yet....waiting since Sept.
I was doing COG calc's and had the track handy.
The track is the middle of the tire to the middle of the tire...pretty close to where the axle tube's end and the knuckle starts....anyone know the knuckle measurements?
Does 55 1/4" sound reasonable?
Hey, how about someone WITH A JK go out and measure?

Hey, while the thread is still on its way to cuba anyway...
There's a source of Drop in third member axles with 9.25" ring gears that are strong like Ox....Nissan Xterra's have 33 spline H233B's...stronger than the Ford 9" for example, getting closer to a D60 built like a Ford 9". They can come with 4.9 gearing from the factory.
Food for thought.

from your picture it looks like you separated the driveshaft in the wrong place. the driveshafts should just bolt to the pinion flange. after the bolts around the outside of the shaft are removed you should be able to give it a tap with a hammer and it should come apart. There may be some sort of guide pin or guide sleeve or something but it looks like you've taken the splined part of the driveshaft out of the cv cage.

[QUOTE=Capown;261233]Truce is ok with me, just dont appreciate you acting like my friend doesnt know what he's doing(neither did he thats why i put he wants to know if you were one). I removed the 8bolts from the Prop shaft where the driveshaft goes into the splines. There is a C clip that keeps the drive shaft in the Propshaft that came off maybe thats why there not coming off together and you see the inside splines where the shaft goes into the prop. I dont see how you used a axle puller to get that off the Pinion. thats where we are stuck. We cant get to the bolt to remove it and use a deadblow to knock it out.[QUOTE]
I also figured out that Bullet Proof suspension were the last ones to remove the Axle so they must have put the C clip on half way or something for it to just come off.
Nah we got it figured out. Neways calling a tow truck wont do anyting Stealershit here wont even work on it. Closest place is in SA or Houston.
