Yes, You can order them with a flatter angle than normal. I'm not sure that it makes it a usable step at that point.

We have a set going into production today at EVO MFG. I'll see if I can snap a couple pictures.

Are you saying they are too high to use as a step?

I live by the Rubicon trail , have been wheeling for many years , been to Moab , Alaska , all over , and own another jeep , so again , don't try to school me on anything that bolts to the body , because as far as I'm concerned , either you don't wheel hard enough to bend them up , or you don't wheel big rocks. I've really only found one that I kind of like so far and that is made by Lod. They bolt to the frame and look like they may hold up for awhile . My question is do you know of any other manufactures that make a slider that bolts or welds to the frame? I 'm also not interested in any kind of skins that screw , or bolt to the body under the doors because with enough force they will also bend the body in , and when you take them off , their is a crease along where the leading edge of the skins are laying against the body . Thanks for any info. you guys may provide ! By the way I have looked at Evo's rock rails and am inquiring about as to how many places they weld to the frame . They also don't have much of a step. By the way , I don't need a step , but my wife does !
I have been looking for a while. I don't have all your experience, but from everything I can find I am confident EVO is the best option for me. Frame mounted, reportedly very strong, made in the USA, made in CA (one of just a couple manufacturers remaining here), excellent reviews, competitive price, good customer service (recently took advantage of their special on the gearing), forum sponsor, ...

The skins are even described as optional since the sliders will not bend. I like that.

Alternatively make them yourself. The EVO design isn't complex and could be replicated fairly easily if you have the tools, skills and time.

I'll be ordering my very shortly. I only wish they were in stock so I could pick them up next week.

Yeah, that was my question as well. A lot of my passengers use them as a step. Maybe I have tall and/or flexible friends.

Maybe mine are angled up more than yours, but they sit about an inch below the bottom of the door. It is awkward for me to step on them but I have no problem stepping over them. I have about 3" of net lift and 35's. I'll take a couple pictures tomorrow.

Default rock rails

Thanks for all the no B.S. advise guys , I really appreciate it. I have been to Off Road Evolution in Orange county and have spoke with Mel Wade about another project. They have the best looking shop I have ever seen. The Evo sliders I think , are the best in the industry, but no step. My wife is disabled and needs the step , and I don't know what I would do if she slipped off the round tube that is on top of the Evo sliders.I wish they (you guys are watching this , right ?)would make a cut out on the top round bar and weld in a step into it.It would be dimple died like the top of the Lod sliders , but only right in front of the doors , and I'm sure it would still be plenty strong. I have noticed some people mentioning money , and money is no object as far as a good slider is concerned , the amount of damage I have accrued is more than any slider can cost ! haha ! I now live in Reno and there is a very good off road shop here where I have seen them make an excellent slider for another jk. I may go and ask them more about it because they can make exactly what I want. Other than that , it looks like right now I'll be looking at the other offerings from the other companies that have been mentioned here , but Lod is looking pretty good , unless Evo wants to make something with a real step ! Thank again for the great info. and keep it coming if you have more ideas !By the way , I do have another jeep I am working on for the real hard core stuff. It has been built on alot of the suggestions that Mel mentioned to me last time I saw him. Here is a pic. and I am in the middle of either 3-4 linking it , or some deaver leaf springs , what say you ? I already have a d60 for the front and a 14 bolt rear with hydro steering , and a new engine putting out 550 h/p in it.
