My wife is disabled and needs the step , and I don't know what I would do if she slipped off the round tube that is on top of the Evo sliders.I wish they (you guys are watching this , right ?)would make a cut out on the top round bar and weld in a step into it.It would be dimple died like the top of the Lod sliders , but only right in front of the doors , and I'm sure it would still be plenty strong. I have noticed some people mentioning money , and money is no object as far as a good slider is concerned , the amount of damage I have accrued is more than any slider can cost ! haha ! I now live in Reno and there is a very good off road shop here where I have seen them make an excellent slider for another jk. I may go and ask them more about it because they can make exactly what I want. Other than that , it looks like right now I'll be looking at the other offerings from the other companies that have been mentioned here , but Lod is looking pretty good , unless Evo wants to make something with a real step ! Thank again for the great info. and keep it coming if you have more ideas
Hey dah'

Given those factors I'd see what Dr Smash might be able to fab up for you on the steps.

I am sure Dr Smash could make a great slider , and I have seen some made by Nates that were awsome. Nates were really nice and made to go thru holes drilled thru the frame , and welded from the backside of the frame , and on the face of the frame. they were great.

I took measurements of my LOD sliders. I'm on 2.5" lift and 35's:

They definitely can be used as a step. My wife uses them all the time. They can be welded on if needed. The only thing to think about is what to do about the auto transmission skid plate, as it mounts above the slider:

You would need to keep the skid removable as one day the auto tranny will need to be serviced.

Thanks terminator for the pics. you are right about welding them , and the concern for the tranny skid , but I have replaced it with heavy duty one. Still , if they were welded on , I could simply cut off the tab that bolts to the tranny skid plate.

Might not have to cut anything, just loosen bolt and slide it out.. maybe?

You're totally right, best thing is just to cut off the tab if you're welding them

You can't slide them out unless you also lose the bolts on the side of the frame. The sliders need to move away horizontally a bit to slide the skid out. I think you could always mount the skid plate under the tab, but then you're sacrificing some clearance, which could be a turn off for some. As mentioned, cutting it off would be the best option. Didn't kind of think about it

Guys , I have now looked at Evo , Lod , Ace , Shrockworks , and White knuckles .Lod is the only one with a step , but you can order White knuckles with some diamond plate welded to the top , but I don't really like the look of it . Diamond plate is for loading docks ! Ace has a" put together your self slider" that uses a 4 bar to frame design , not a 3 bar like other companies. It looks beefy , but , still no step. It looks like either Lod , Evo if they make one with a step soon , or custom made for me . I will keep you posted ! Thank again every one !

If you go custom, an idea I had was to use T-slots and a clip pin design to temporarily mount a step on. Remove the clip and slip the step off. Something thats been going through my head to make it easier for my 5' tall wife.
FWIW...

As I said yesterday, you really can't go wrong with LOD for what you are looking for. Looks, strength and multi-function (steps and slider).

One thing I will suggest......give Poison Spyder a call and ask them if they have any plans to make their Brawler Rockers in a frame mounted version. I have heard rumors that they are doing this. The sliders are also very strong and have a step on the side. The only issue with the ones they have out now is that they are still body mounted (although parts are frame mounted I think).

Just wanted to throw that out there. I own the PSC rear bumper and tire carrier and spoke directly wth PSC abut 2 months ago and that's how I heard the "rumor".
