I am looking into lining my JK Tub but do not want to spend large amounts of money to have it professionaly done. I was looking on Quadratec and saw they have this Herculiner. Has anyone used this? If so how does it work, good or bad? Also, about how many gallons do you think I will need?

I know there is posts about this but when I quick search nothing shows.

I have used previously to line the tub of my 92 YJ. It worked great for me, and no separation or peeling 10 yrs later, when I sold it.

 

Nice! About how many gallons did you use to you recall? There is an option to just buy by the gallon or get the kit, but I dont need the kit I have all the other stuff.

 

Actually I only used a single all in one kit and I didn't get all of the coverage I wanted. It was enough technically but with the JK I would get 2, then you can do a strip down the sides, your grill, wheels etc. I am not for sure but I think they offer it in colors other than the basic black I used. One note of significance take your top off before doing it and leave off till the acetone smell is gone.

 

It takes about a week for the fumes to fade lol.

Herculiner is not uv stable and tends to turn chalky after a few years. I have done a lot of research on this recently as I am about to paid the tub of my two door. I choose Monstaliner and ordered my kit earlier this week. It's almost the same price as Herculiner. Monstaliner is running a free shipping and free chassis saver quart with all online purchases. You just need to find magnetman (user name) on one of the other forums. He has a link to the codes you need to enter at check out.

Ive used herculiner in my pick up bed and my yj tub. Its a good product if you prep every thing right but its very rough not easy to clean. And my yj smelled for months after I used it. When I do my jk im going to try something else, maybe monstaliner.

 

I just sprayed mine with U-Pol Raptor and did a couple of threads about it.

I think I may have read every thread about lining your jeep that is out there. I easily spent over 8 hours reading up on it. What your going to find as your 2 best DIY under $200 options are U-Pol Raptor (that is sprayed with an air compressor) or Monstaliner (that is rolled on or can be sprayed). On the Montstaliner site they break down all your options pretty well LINK(broken for forum rules)--> h t t p : //www.monstaliner.com/monstaliner_comparisons.htm . Both options have almost total positive responses from people who have used them. Herculiner on the other hand doesn't seem like a very good option and I would compel you to do more research before pulling the trigger to use it. From what I have read it fades, has a very abrasive surface, is hard to clean, doesn't always come out looking even.

There is guy Croce that used some rattle cans for $40 that I would use before Herculiner. Here is a post that shows what it looks like. LINK->https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...0/#post3121171 . It's hard to find people who have done that method. I'm not sure how it will hold up, but it would be really easy to touch-up later with a new can later.
