Are you actually running premium fuel on the premium setting, or are you running regular octane with the premium setting? If the former, do you have any knocking/pre-detonation, or does the engine handle itself OK?

I'm sure he uses Premium to use the Premium setting, that's what its for, is to take advantage of the slower burn by changing the engine timing.

Otherwise, he's just "retarded".

i tried all combos

regular setting and regular fuek = results were barely noticable (in my opinion not worth the $400)

premium setting and regular fuel = results were identical to the above

premium setting and premium fuel = results VERY VERY noticable especially in the low end

this is just my "seat of the pants" testing so no official numbers

regular setting and regular fuel = ~2 mpg increase and noticeable towing power. Also updated the tire size to be consistent with 1) the actual tire size at the pressure I run and 2) the GPS (confirmation I got it right).

I haven't tried the premium fuel setting because even if it gave another 2 MPG and 20 HP (unlikely) it wouldn't pay for the 20+ cents per gallon difference.

MPG and power official in that I keep track of gallons used and miles traveled. Keeping in mind my tire size was off in the "positive" direction, I got the 2 MPG increase after correcting the tire size downward, which should have made total miles less per tank, therefore should have a negative effect on mileage.

VERY happy with the Hypertech. BTW - have the CoolTech exhaust in place for all comparison measurements.

If you're getting let's say 18 mpg and see a 2 mpg increase by going with the premium setting, that's a 11.11% increase. With regular gas at $3.75 you can pay 41 more cents for the premium gas, get the extra power and spend the same money. So I think it's worth trying. I just don't have the hypertech yet. It's on my wish list after I get bigger tires and regear.

I'm running the hypertech with 33" toyos and 2"bb. With the auto and heavy tires I don't really notice any difference no matter which setting I try. I've got a brute force CAI coming this week and I plan on adding a flowmaster muffler also to try and give it some more grunt. My complaints are at hwy speed 70mph it doesn't have enough power to maintain without the overdrive kicking off. I should've bought the stick

I'm seconding the BIG improvement using the Hypertech Max Energy. I too was dismayed to hear some people not getting a real improvement but went for it anyway as Hypertech is litterally right down the street from me in Memphis (and no I don't have any friends or family who work there nor any reason to promote this product).

I did hear of some people having trouble with the programming not being trasnferred to the Jeep JK. That might be the reason you guys didn't feel the big improvement? Because when I did it, boy did I feel it! I'm running 33 inch with a 1.75 bb and auto tranny. I my opinion that was a very well spent $380! I would definately do it again!

If you didn't get the power you can feel.... you better check to make sure you did it right and have the latest updates from the website installed!

It works!

You should buy gears. You probably wont notice a difference in the Hypertech since you are running the stock gears.

About $380. You might be able to get it on sale. Check with Northridge4x4.com. No shipping and sometimes has a little sale going "store-wide". Even if not on sale, first-class business and JK-Forum sponsor.
