Just so you guys know, everytime you put a new tune on your computer the computer saves how many times it has been altered. So even if you put it back to stock before bringing it to the dealer, they can still tell if you have changed tunes in the past. There are programmers that out there that supposedly do not leave a "footprint" on the ECM, but I have yet to see one for the JK. If you need warranty engine work and the dealer sees that you have changed tunes previously, about 90% of them will void our 'lifetime' warranty. Of course this is up to dealer discretion....

Where did you get your info on this? The Hypertech instructions specifically mention to reset the tuning to stock before going to your dealership, so that if they run diagnostics on the ECU, they don't see anything out of the ordinary...

I'm not saying that you're necessarily wrong, but if the programmer works by overwriting the code on the ECU, why wouldn't the programming simply reset the "tuning counter" that you've described?

The better systems like F.A.S.T. by Felpro do not "overwrite" the PCM codes, rather it's a bypass. I'm not sure on HyperJunk's tuning system, never used them but I would hope they simply bypass as well.

a dealer could theoretically see any edits, if they went through the trouble to investigate, but let's be real, most tech's wouldn't take the time or spend the effort to search the ECM.

Anything you change or alter on your vehicle could cause a warrantee fight, it's the price you pay to play!

I programmed 180 even though my thermostat is still the stock temp. I thought I would give it a try and see. I cannot see why it would cause a problem.

It's not a search they have to "try" and do, it shows up on their scanner just like when you bring your car to a state inspection location, they were able to pull up the information "that" it was modified in certain areas of the control module but not any detailed information as to "what" was done. In TX at least.

What's your problem with Hypertech? You stated that you haven't used them, so why talk trash about a product you don't know about?
