Default Improving ride in JK????

I had started another thread, but need some help soon. I figured you guys were my best resource. How can I improve my ride in my JK? I have put 285/75/16 on my Jeep 2 door with no lift...I currently am running 55 pounds pressure in the tires....will a 1 inch lift improve the ride? It seems like I am also losing some power as the Jeep will "bog" at times when turning etc...

I a very new to Jeeps so please, any help would be great. Is there smething else I need to do after I put these tires on?

Holy cow, let about 25-30 psi out of your tires. 55 psi is WAY TOO MUCH air and they will make your ride feel terrible and wear out prematurely down the center of your tread.

Yea, Thats WAY too much air. Try running about 30psi.

BTW lifting it is not going to improve the ride.

I can only speculate that everyone's frame of reference on what constitutes an improved ride in a Jeep. My own version of a good ride in a Jeep involves a 22 year old cheerleader and a bottle of, . . . . well never mind.

Anyway, there are a lot of variables you could try involving tires and suspension mods that will change the way your Jeep rides. However, I have to be honest, I don't know of a Jeep Wrangler that has a really smooth and comfortable road ride.

As WOL said reduce the pressure in your tires., see his post. It will make a huge difference.

Yes, buy a small air compressor to air up the tires after you air down on a trail ride. If you're always near a gas station with compressors that work, then use theirs.

X3 on too much air. Try 32 psi. If 32 psi is not satisfactory, try dropping tire pressure 2 psi each tire and test drive until you find the ride you want. I wouldn't recommend going any lower that 25 psi. You may end up with different pressures in the front and rear tires Ex. 30 psi front , 28 psi rear.
If you can't get the ride you want by adjusting the tire pressure, shocks may be the next item to try. I like Bilstein shocks, 5100s specifically. You may want to try some adjustable shocks (like Rancho or MX6).
Hope this helps.

Default figured...

i figured 55psi was way to much...when lowering the pressure, how does it affect the gas mileage? i know a jeep rides liek a jeep..just wanting to figure this out and get the best result...i am not going trail riding, just using it as a street vehicle...i agree with the cheerleader, but my wife doesn't! ha! anyway, i thought about shocks...if this dosn't work...

bim..you have any problems with the esp on yours?
