Take a spin in my 97 TJ 4-banger, then jump back in your JK. You'll be amazed how smooth your jeep became while you were gone.

I have gone from a 97 4runner to a 08 jk 2 door and I think the ride is pretty good. Doesnt bother me at all and I drive it all day long!

What load range tires did you buy? If they are E's get rid of them and get some D's or even C's since you said its a pavement pounder. Good luck

OK, lets say I buy a truck that is famous for off roading, and famous for being very rough riding (Like a truck), on the road, and heavy on gas use, as its made heavy duty to take a pounding over rocks, etc.....lots more iron than a unibody cute ute needs, etc.

I gave up gas mileage, and a good ride, to get off road ability.....

Except for one problem...I don't off road.....?

Let me digest your statements a moment....I'm following your thought process.

OK, you attempted to address the MPG, by inflating the tires to rock like hardness.

Then, you are looking for a way to compensate for the rock like hardness?

So, we say, let the air out, so you don't have rocks for tires.

You then worry about the mpg again...

hmmmm.

Funny story....I went to the store to get a nice soft pillow for my head...the old one was getting too worn out. (The pillow - not so much the head...)

I saw these beautiful rocks....I got one to use as a pillow.

I noticed it was hard, like a, um, a rock, and it banged the head board and dented it as I tossed and turned....because it was hard to get comfortable.

I went on line to the pillow forum to ask for advice...I say, my rock is too hard, it gives me headaches, and dents the headboard and stuff...

They said rocks are too hard to use as pillows...have I tried memory foam?

I said I did, but aspirin worked better and didn't taste as badly.

They said how about padding the rock with something, like maybe a pillow?

I finally concluded that While I REALLY liked my rock, it just wasn't meant to be used like that, it was much better suited for using in my rock garden...so, I let my rock go be with the other rocks in the rock garden....and I went and got a pillow that more suited my needs.

It wasn't an easy decision...I REALLY loved that rock....but I think its happier with the other rocks in the rock garden, and frankly, I sleep way better now, the bedroom isn't getting dented up from the rock, and overall, I think I made the right decision.

I'd probably STILL been sleeeping on that rock though, except my cheerleader got tired of my bitching about it, which kept waking up my wife...because if I'm going to buy a rock to use as a pillow, the least I couold do was stop bitching about how badly it worked as a pillow....they got sick of it.

I don't know what remindedd me of that....anyway....

Yeah, Bilstein 5100's are amazing at smoothing the ride. They are a monotube design, with digressive valving, so you don't have to adjust anything....they react progressively and smoothly...I love'm.

I upgraded to Bilstein 7100's, after several years...as I needed a short body shock with more travel, but the same digressive valving, but with changeable valve packs...so I can tune it for different events offroading, etc....as I carry a ton of equipment, and the normal valving options were too soft to control the extra weight of the equipment and armor, etc.

Hope that helps!

Default well...

anyway, i suppose you are right...should only have gotten a vehicle specifically designed for my specific needs...however, thanks for the help though..i was just looking for options since i just bought one...believe me, it has been a pain since i bought it and have thought of getting rid of it....i have not had a great time with the new JK...trying to salvage something out of this...but thanks for the ridicule..seriously, i'll sell it in a heartbeat if anybody is interested

Load range C tires (more give in the sidewalls) and softer shocks - that's as good as it gets. I drive my Rubicon Unlimited every day with an OME lift. It's not the road king that my Yukon was but then again, I'm used to an '86 CJ7

To quote a super hero.....HOLY TICKING TIME BOMBS BATMAN!!!!!!!!

You are lucky you have not literally blown a tire...Drop that pressure down my friend and I think you will find that the ride is excellent. I can personally tell you that from riding in just about every Jeep but a Willys, it is the best ride yet!!!

Good Luck!!!!

I find if I test drive things before buying them, it helps a lot in deciding if I might like the way they ride/handle.

On the JK, its like a limo compared to the TJ, and the TJ was a limo compared to the YJ, and the YJ was a limo compared to the CJ's, etc.

You seem to race boats...so you expect that slapping and bouncing on the water...its part of the experience....you traded comfort for performance.

If you want to appreciate the JK, go offroading...its fun, and its what its built for...that's its performance scenario.

And, you're welcome for the ridicule, it was supposed to be insightful teasing...don't take it too hard.
