Improving ride in JK????
Ok, sometimes we just do something stupid. So last night after my second screwdriver (not talking about a tool), I thought to myself, "I wonder if my Jeep rides rough?".
So out into the garage I went. Pulled out the gauge. Put it on. 50lbs per tire. HOLY SHI
I mean wow!
So I guess when it got 33 inch tires they figure they better air them up close to the max of 65 psi? Well anyway I aired them down to 35psi and after two screwdrivers I didn't want to be a screwed driver so I wasn't gonna test them last night!
So the ride to work this morning was as Borat would say.. "VERY NIIIICE"!
I took it for granted that the tire guys aired them up right, and that my Jeep was just riding like the others I've had. But after airing them down it rides like a Cadillac compared to the older models! And I was happy before! I think on the way in this morning I let out a little giggle kinda like I did when it got it.... and when I put the 33s on..... oh yeah and like I did with the hardtop and bumper..... hmmm I did it on the lift too.
Take this as a lesson and go check your tire pressure! Some dorks think a big tire needs big pressure obviously! And then some just figure the garage knows what they are doing and don't check it for themselves.

To hell with the bottle, add another 22 year old cheerleader...a red-head...a real red-head.
There is a specific method to get the "right tire pressure".
Its called a chalk test.
YOu chalk the tires (Big sidewalk chaulk stick are good for this....)
And drive over a dark surface (Blck top is good, etc...if its white chaulk.
What you WANT to see is a nice even weraing off of the chalk.
If more wears off in the center of the tread, reduce the pressure, if more wears off on the outter edges, increase the pressure.
If more wears off on one side or another, you need an alignment.

Enjoy!
