Big thank you to Gerry and the rest of the guys at Screamin Lizard Customs... Gerry spent all day looking at the Aussie issue.. He swapped out my carrier and the ka-chunking sound / feel is a lot better..

I greatly appreciate the time they took to help troubleshoot the issue and greatly appreciate David at Northridge 4x4 for hooking me up with the guys at SLC...

Thank you again Northridge 4x4 and Screamin Lizard Customs.

Well great. Those guys it seems are some serious professionals. ANy details on exactly what the problem was with the carrier? Perhaps some kinda clearance issues?

Default Aussie Locker

Mine makes that noise when I'm braking and turning hard in a parking lot. Not real loud though. My tolerances were all in spec with the stock thrust washers, I couldn't use the JK specific blue ones because the locker wouldn't fit in the cage with them. The Aussie tech I spoke with said as long as the tolerances were within spec it would be fine as all the other kits reuse stock thrust washers. I wish I wouldn't of waited a year for the JK specific one now and had to pay $50 dollars extra. Hey Aussie if I send you the blue unused washers can I have my $50 dollars back.

It may be within spec, but if SLC can make a kachunker quiet, something isn't right with the specs given.

Checked out the front locker and in my feel even in spec I really thought it was loose. I drove the JK then opened the front up. Before i opened up i did not think that it should ratchet and not try to lock in the spin test. Swaped the carrier and it made a difference.

Defense to all the JK drivetrain is a good one, but we have noticed all of the diffs are different in some way. Setting up gears is and can be pretty tricky.

So the aftermarket guys have there work cut out trying to keep up with Mopar.

SLC, what particular carrier, brand? Might fronts don't wanna lock on the spin test either. They only both turn the same when I turn the driveshaft by hand
