i guess i wil get the dealership to show me how to tell if they are activating when they are looking at the dents and scratches they put in my jeep.
NEXT TIME ... shop around for prices and compare .. tell them you can get it cheaper somewhere else. I did that ... we got front and rear axles and wiring harness and switch from the dealer for 3000. They were going to charge us like 3600 .. we told them we could get it from quadratec for 2800 or around there plus shipping ... and they dropped the price to beat it ..

anyways though..... my question .... we have a X .. now with Rubi axles/D44s and the LOCK light that illuminates it being engaged doesn't show up. So its only on a Rubicon from the dealer that would do that right? We were wondering about that ... I don't think my lockers are engaged in 4H i know they are in 4L. I will have to take it out for a test today ... to make sure ....

I thought you had a Rubi... so I still don't get why you have toggles. They altered it? On a normal Rubi you'd have a dash light that illuminates a lock and shows you what lockers are engaged (per the manual). Don't know if that exists on your unique setup. But, you should feel them engage, I'd think. Should be a noticeable difference when you're locked-- especially up front.

Pardon my ignorance but i was under the assumption that all Jeep Wranglers came with Dana 44 rear now? I am asking this because you said you bought front and rear dana 44's. at least your price quote implies this since a dana 44 is only $1500 and you paid over $3500.

All 08 JK's do come with rear D44. Not sure about the 09's, but I doubt they would change that. It does seem like it would have been cheeper to have a locker installed in the rear and put in a front D44 w/locker.

As I understand it, the lockers will not engage in 4hi, only 4lo, without a mod (it has been that way since the Rubicon model came out years ago with the TJ). I find it hard to believe that a dealership would do that mod because of warranty issues. Otherwise, Jeeps would come from the factory that way. Sounds like the dealership might be pulling someone's leg, or not know what they are talking about.

I could be wrong, but I don't think there are any lockers out there yet for the D44 in the JK. I know there are a couple for the front D30, but I think the D44 has only the stock locker as an option.

My question would have to be why in the hell did the butchers put the switches under the steering wheel when there is a factory switch panel in front of the shifter?

You can easily tell if the lockers are locked. Get in some sand or dirt in 4x4 lo and stand on the gas while somebody is outside the Jeep. If they tell you all four spin, they are locked, if not, they ain't.

Yeah, you're wrong. ARB makes one. The only difference between the JK rear 44 locker and the rest is the ring gear bolt holes. You can use any kinda locker or limited slip if you drill the ring gear bolt holes out to the JK size. Detroit Locker, here I come.
