If Chrysler definitely does decide to stick that Pentastar engine in the JK next year, I will first in line to trade in my current JK. I made the mistake of trying to merge into the fast lane yesterday without downshifting from 6th while still sportin my 3.21's.......Put the skinny stick to the floor and I think I slowed down, I sure as hell didn't accelerate. Just about caused a pile up .

I'm loving the 20+ MPG, but this thing is a gutless pig below about 2500 RPM

Its going in the cherokee - heard nothing about the Wrangler. I am just hoping it will swap easily.

Agreed... But an easy/cheap JK swap is at least plausible at this point. So I will keep a small amount of hope alive.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on that bandwagon as the Pentastar engine is producing less than an extra 10% foot pounds of torque and requires an additional 20% of additional revs to get there.

While I do believe there is some promise, I think a version that is slated for applications calling for more torque would be the one to wait for.

Thats a good point. Numbers don't mean anything until you see them on a HP/TQ curve to see where the power is. Let me rephrase my initial thought.

I'll be first in line to trade in my JK when Chrysler gets their head out of their ass and gives us the torque monster motor that SHOULD be in a Jeep.

I'd love a CRD, but I want it with a 6-speed manual and decent driveability........and NO BS UREA TANK like BMW, MB, and VW are currently using to allow their Diesels to pass emissions. Word on the street is that Honda has a new exhaust setup to ditch the Urea tank, but it won't be going into production until late 2010-11

I still have a Hesco Supercharger setup for sale, if you're interested. 100 + horsepower $3500. Makes a huge difference, and you might gain an MPG or two in the process. You can put it on yourself in a single Saturday.

If your mechanically inclined and you have a good set of hand tools, bolt on a RIPP supercharger (7 hour install time)
Do it right!... no wimpy Cold Air Intake is going to deliver the power u really want or need, and headers have proven nothing but to rob HP
the STOCK 3.8L dyno's in at 142hp.!!!! Its really amazing how they even drive,
and when comments are made like " almost started a pile-up on the freeway" its totally understandable. The JK is a great platform!, its just underpowered.
Our supercharger is the only JK supercharger that works flawlessly! and will generate 8psi of boost rendering a 100+ HP over stock! later on add a MBRP exhaust system, gear it right and 6speed manual will see 260+ HP!!!! TO THE GROUND!!!
Its really a no brainer when comparing to your only other option, the $18,000+ hemi swap. Its a great motor but the amount of time and money involved is ridiculous.
no matter what your JK is used for... daily driver, off road rig, or both, for way UNDER $5k the supercharger will give life to that sleeping 3.8, and its so efficient our clients report an average of a 4MPG increase. (we advertise + 6mpg but who really babies a supercharged motor to get the best gas mileage possible.

Is your SC an option for me?
nope, no Front Mount Intercooler
For the JK we use a water meth injection, it performs 100x better on this application. Ice cold intake charge on demand, no laggy or heat soaked front mount waiting for some random off road debris to clog it up

check it out..

Will my dual batteries (benchmark designs) work with the RIPP SC?
