I did the same and took my muffler off. I also had a Magnaflow muffler 12616 welded in place before the axle. Much better. The Magnaflow cat back exhaust uses a 5" diameter muffler but was out of stock everywhere. And the Dynomax uses a 6" muffler, so I compromised with a 6" Magnaflow for about 90 bucks. In my opinion the same as a 300 exhaust for a fraction of the cost.

One of the best reasons to do a cat-back is to get a relocate on that muffler. Many of our systems relocate the muffler in front of the rear axle and tuck it up so not as much of a rock grabber. But if you are handy you can also just got the appropriate muffler too. On the 2007-11 JK platforms we saw gains in both HP/TQ, our mufflers are MUCH less restrictive than the bulky stock muffler.

So the 3.6's like not having the factory muffler? Been thinking about pulling mine but don't know if the engine will like not having back pressure.

I've been wondering the same thing about back pressure. Might just try it this week and find out!

I did a muffler delete about a year ago and haven't had any issues at all. Sounds pretty tough and it was free

I have an 08 and ran without a muffler for three days before my dynomax muffler came in. I couldn't stand the sound, way too loud, drone, and it didn't feel as peppy. Once I put on my new dynomax muffler it made a world of difference

If you hate the sound of your 3.6L without a muffler I doubt you will be happy with any aftermarket system either. The 3.6L systems have a factory resonator where most of the aftermarket guys put their muffler. The mufflers used in this position are usually pass-thru type and do little to modify the modulation. Face it... It's a V6 it is never going to sound like a muscle car. The best you can hope for is a system is a slightly deeper tone, but the modulation will be the same. Tone is usually a product of tube diameter and bends not the muffler.
