Just ordered the Coast 1310 and some spare joints from Sean/David at Northridge4x4 . Thanks for answering my questions.

AFAIK the stock shaft uses a standard U-joint at both ends. If the stock shaft used a CV/Double-Cardan the pinion shaft would not be parallel with the ground from the factory.
CV is another name for double cardan as well as a rzeppa along with many other types as it simply stands for constant velocity (joint).
