It's a federal anti drug law to have a hidden compartment in a motor vehicle.

Guys, I use this in my home....

w*w.primarysafes.com/product/HW-3035D?meta=FRG&utm_source=GBASE&utm_medium=CPC&utm _content=&utm_campaign=

You can get it for under $40 at wally world. I think you could bolt it underseat (it wont fit in the rear deck storage area). I lined mine with dense foam as well for extra padding.

Here is why I prefer it:

* cheaper than gunvault
* fast access (just 2 keystrokes - more if you want) that can be done by feel and you can choose the combination
* secure enough to delay theft and keep kids out (if someone wants it, they will find a way to take it)
* key for opening in case batteries fail
* big enough to hold other crap too

I don't use this box in the Jeep because I don't have a need to.....I have my con carry permit, but don't carry - - way too many places in NC that you can't carry, so I'd be leaving it all the time, increasing chances of theft, etc.

Just a suggestion

I don't believe it's illegal by itself. It just provides probable cause to search the owners/operators residence without a warrant and allows the possessing agency the keep the vehicle impounded indefinitely.

I would nev3er reccomend something I believe to be illeagal. I had no idea. I don't see how that is any more secret than a vault under a seat... or even the cubby hole in the rear of the jeep from the factory? My girls honda has a compartment in the dash that just looks like a panel, but if you push on the the front of it at the bottom it opens the little door up. It came from the factory like that, and it is def. hidden IMO.

The trap he built wouldn't hold anything else like drugs cause It was like an upside down box with a door attached and a holster attached to the door. I was just thinking that it would be a good way to hide a gun in a parking lot or whatever.

I bought a pistol storage box at WalMart and cut it down to 2/3rds height and bolted it under the package tray of my Impala. I think I will make one for the Jeep.....however a pocket is best if you are out and about. I check my schedule, if going to a church or school I leave it at home.....

Sorry, turns out I was wrong. It was an Illinois anti-drug law and it was ruled unconstitutional last year.

Pretty much what I figured. Otherwise putting a pistol anywhere in the vehicle that wasn't in immediate sight would be illegal.
