Default Re-Gear?

Most of you guys going with a lower gear ratio than the 4:10. My new JK Rubi came with 4:10 and since it is going to be the wife's car most of the time I want to get the 3:73's installed as she does most higway and country road driving. Hopefully this will get her better mileage than the 4:10 gearing. Anybody know?????

Replies appreciated

I can't imagine why anyone would do this? I wouldn't and with a rubicon, you'll really hurt resale.

You will need to give more info for better responses, but no way in hell would I pay $1500 +/- to go backwards on the gears. Even if you end up with an extra 0.5 mpg, how long is it going to take you to recoup the investment?

And what happens when your wife decides she wants to move up to 33's? Will you pay to have the 4.10's put back in? And pay again when she adds a lift and 35's?

I live in lake Charles also. I bought mine from 249 drive train in Houston. Definitely worth going there.

That's who is going to do mine as soon as he gets more back in stock for my axle. 5.13's for around $1050 is what he quoted me, but I already have the lockers so your's would probably be more. He can do the sleeves and gussets too. Give him a call and see what he says. They do a LOT of jeeps and know what they are doing.

Asked about regearing my 2007 x and was told 2,000 to 3,000 parts and labor depending. and that sucks cause I wanted to do it soon. I was told it would help with gas mileage
