Thats a clean break. I bet when you stuff the pasenger side wheel , the shock makes contact with the bottom edge of the RE drop bracket. Ask me how I know? Maybe these extra braced axle relocation brackets are on the right path. One thing I dont like about the frame relocation brackets I have now is the extra leverage to flex the bracket and possibly the frame. For me the solution is either a new design adjustable track link or a serious weld on axle bracket. As far as triangulated(wishbone) three link design ,I have two sitting in my driveway. They are the flexiest things on the trail. BUT they do not handle anything like a radius arm or 4 link on the road.

My fear is the added stress the rubbing may cause to the mounting bracket on the axle. Especially if you hear a popping sound. Fix it sooner rather than later.

I have the RE 3.5 Superflex kit, FT rear track bar, using no relocation bracket,
and it clears my Rockcrusher cover just fine, by at least a 1/4"......
I even checked it in both of these positions
.

I had a popping sound a while back, and found it to be the frame side track bar bolt was not tight enough....
I greased the bushing some more, tightened the bolt real good, and its been fine ever since.

My piont was that if its touching the diff cover to the point of making a popping sound, then the stress is causing the track bar to bend. If the track bar is bending, the load on the axle mount will be significant. Ontop of which the load will put the welds in tension. Welds are not nearly as strong in tension as they are in shear.

I recently installed the 3.5 RE Superlift on my Rubicon with 35 Procomps. My right rear shock snapped just like yours. It was cleanly broken, about two inches up from the bottom mount. The break was clean. It was replaced without cost by the shop, as we assumed it was a defective shock. The picture of your broken right shock looks very similar to mine. I don't know if this a coincidence or problem with the design.

REALLY? Very interesting...
Im in the middle of a break between cleaning all the mud off it and a few wrenching things such as removing the shock to send back to RE. They are also replacing mine under warranty as well.
How long ago did yours happen? And do you recall any circumstances where it could have strained it?

I had my lift in late August. Went straight from the shop to some local hills. I did not do anything I had not a dozen times with the stock Rubicon. Mild trails, a few hills (all dirt). I heard a loud pop on my way home on a local highway. I was making a left turn, low speed. I am not sure when the shock snapped, but when I got home a few miles later I looked under the Jeep. The back right shock had a clean snap. There were no bends, just broken clean through in about the same sopt as yours. I will post a picture.

OCD... make sure that your bump stops are touching before your shocks are. If you bottom out on your shock it will break.
