$1000 + gears which are around $500 roughly so $1500 total or is it a $1000 gears with install.

Cheapest install up here is $900 and then gears on top of that so around $1500 total which is ok. We are still running 35s in our 2010 with 3.21s and it's ok. Not moving up till 37s, and then we'll get 4.88s as I prefer to be around 2200 or so on the highway cruising. I think it depends on driving style, highway travel etc. I've always ran 3.73 in my Chevy's with all sizes of tires, except the only difference is a 350 V8 can actually move it

Hey Chris.
You guys will be doing my re-gear as soon as I sell my "other" convertible. I have 305/70/17s on my 2012 JK with 3.21s/auto. The big debate is 4.56s or 4.88s. I will go to 35s but no bigger because I don't want to deal the problems that 37s can bring. Thanks to my Evo skids, sliders, bumper and winch I am heavy. (The Jeep) Recommendation? I do wheel; I don't want to be at 3000 rpms at 75 and I don't care about MPG.
Might have you do a rear locker at the same time.

Youre welcome. DO some research on quality gears. You want to make sure the steel is good. This is one part I have not researched yet. Also, 4:56 may be hard to find. I suppose they will be more common as 2012+ owners start looking for them.

i think most of you are not understanding how gears effect hp/torque. it does not change the output of the motor. gear ratios simply change the rpms at different speeds. if u run 35's or 37's with stock gears u are in the low rpm ranges all of the time and not taking advantage of the power. when u regear for larger tires u are putting the rpms in the sweetspot again to use the powerband of the motor. it is a no brainer here. regear if u want to regain theperformance lost after adding larger tires. stop blowing your money and do your gears.

someone was posting saying that a procal would not be necessary if going from stock 32's with 4.10's to 35's and 4.56's. this is wrong. a procal(or equivalent) will be 100% necessary for 2012+ when regearing to anything other than factory available ratios(the dealer can reprogram for 3.73's or 4.10's). as evo stated earlier...the jeep will go into limp mode and u will be stuck in second gear for autos. it MUST be reprogrammed.

spoke with northridge4x4 and they recommended nitro gears who makes 4.56 gears for the JK, they also are the ones who make the popular hammer in axle sleeves, so i assume they are a reputable brand

I took my 13 with automatic out last night to do some checking. I measured the tires and they are 31" I have 3.21's and I got out on the interstate and side roads and jumped on it hard and few passes and take offs. I was really surprised how much pep it really had.
