When did and where did you hear this?? I have visited the site a few times and written them a few times, even searched for press releases and nothin.

It would be nice to have more options though to choose from definetly, only reason my JK doesn't have a snorkel yet.

OK so I have checked them all out and I am between RR and AEV. But, I have a question about each.

River Raider-
#1 Is that $500 INSTALLED? I like to do what I can on my Jeep, but I AM NOT cutting the hood in anyway, Im sure its not that hard, but I just dont mess with paint/body.
#2 I see pics of you guys hitting some DEEP water, what if some does splash in? (probably could happen with any snorkel) But is the AEV "drain" a good thing? I plan on putting this thing to the test and I will be pissed if I total a new motor after spending $500 on a snorkel.
#3 I have sat radio and plan on keeping it. So the receiver is in the dash or something right? Did all you guys (cept that one dude) just cut your antenna off?

AEV-
#1 I basically just dont like the clear "bird feeder" look. However, I did see one where the guy simply spray painted the clear part black and it looked just fine. Is that bad to do?
#2 How does a "drain" work? I would think any hole to drain would defeat the whole purpose.
BOTH- How does it SOUND??? I have an AirRaid (on when bought it used with 12,000 miles) that sounds badass and it dont want to lose that. I am posting a pic of my Jeep below, there is a mud lake down this trail that I had to turn back from twice...I will not turn back with the snork hehe. BTW thanks guys I know its a huge post but this is a lot of money for me im a poor grad student.

the aev you have to cut the stock hood. If you have an AEV hood you do not have to cut. If you dont like the "bird feeder look" they do sell an air ram which makes it look better. On the RR snorkel you dont cut the hood but a hole on the side of the jeep. The RR is $500 for the snorkel... not installed, I have heard that both give pretty straight forward instructions on how to cut and install.

RR
1) the 500 is just for the bare aluminum snorkel. You have to install it and you have to paint or coat it with something

2) I can't speak for the RR guys who splash in the snorkel. I'm sure odds are it won't make it all the way down to the airbox. Every other snorkel has a drain near the ram air or air cleaner part. If you are in water up to the ram air portion you've got bigger problems.

AEV
1) paint it black if you don't like it. It actually is a great system. I've caught tons of dust in mine when i'm on a dusty trail. I can vouch for it working well.

2) You can hear the air going into the snorkel but IMO it's not a sound mod. If you want water out of ur engine then get a snorkel. Don't forget to take care of the rest of the Jeep so you can cross deep water. A snorkel is only 1 piece of the puzzle.

I love River Raider. ZERO issues, and I've smacked it into large objects on trails and she shows no marks and no dents on her. It's GREAT!

River Raider is the best!

Check the video in my signature, one of the clips in it shows me taking on some deep water/mud in it.

Do these snorkels bolt up to the windshield at all? They appear to block it from folding, true? Could one be cut down to half shield height to allow the folding windshield to function? Thanks.
