Also despite which snorkle you choose, its alot safer to have one if your going to encounter any water at all. Like with your case, you were unlucky to be hydrolocked going through just a foot of water, yes, but even tho that was unlucky for hydrolocking with that little water, there is nothing preventing it from happening again.

As mentioned before, a snorkle will add that extra protection and is a small price to pay compared to hydrolocking again

Personally like the way the AEV looks (not knocking the RR, just my opinion) but what really sells me is that if you do need to cut (as in not having the AEV hood), your only cutting into the hood. I dont like how the RR cuts into the body panels. Plus the AEV is cheaper. $350
Ok I've seen people say this time and time again about cutting into a body panel, the fender you cut into for the RR is replaceable just like the hood is and its actually cheaper....the hood lists for 678 the fender for 405. I'll say this yes the hood is easier to replace. Why on earth you would want to take either off after you put them on to save your engine from hydrolocking is also beyond me

Didn't realize the price difference in the two, thought the hood would be cheaper also from what i have read time and time again. As far as taking either off i agree with you that there is no reason to after the install. I figure this concern has come from the risk of a DIY mistake of cutting the hole too big or something

That was my big concern to, the install and possible misstake. I got a quote of $987 to replace the hood (painted and installed) and a quote of $1543 to replace the fender (paint and install).....no brainer for me.

I have the cargo master congo cage, the front mounts are at the base of the windshield, where you take off to fold it... Will a snorkel fit with the cage in place? Anyone have any experience with this?

For it to help in dusty conditions it needs to have a pre-filter.
