Are you talking about the rear tire making contact with the pinch seam/Rubicon rail on lifted Jeeps without re-centered axles?

Trim them both up.

Do you mean when used as a slider and they didn't protect your rockers and ended up causing more damage?

Nope, talking about those times where you have used the rails for what they were suppose to be meant for and they came up into your tub and did damage to your tub. I have seen many a picture of instances where the stock rails have done some damage and bent a front quarter panel or in the middle where the B-pillar attaches.

Figured I would start a thread since I figured it has been a sore subject for many people and could be a good detail for those thinking of upgrading or that don't even know the stock rails are not very strong.

Plus, I came down on a rock on Sunday and had the rail bend into my front quarter panel. So I am interested in what it might cost me to get the panel fixed.

First,if your're planning to play big, like rocks then provide the protection you need first to avoid damage as much as possible. As for damage,Its a JK get over it or stay off the rocks

Couldn't agree with you more! Next purchase was already going to be a set of better rails!! Was hoping to not even have to use these and be able to sell them off to pay for the new ones! Not so much now...

I know damage happens, its part of the game but I also want a good looking Jeep. But the main issue is the new rails I have picked out have skins that mount to the tub and with this damage things probably won't line up correctly so it is something that has to be fixed.

Thus why I started a thread on costs associated with it to try and understand what it will run me and help others out.

Downloaded the pictures this morning at home. Once I get them into Lightroom I will get a couple posted.

Damage wasn't really that bad. I don't think most people would notice. Just a little bulge in the front quarter panel behind the fender and my passenger side door seems to have a little larger gap now where the hinge got pulled forward with the panel flex.

On a more positive note I did break the rock! I will have to post a picture of that up as well!
