Superchips Flashpaq for JK, Initial Impressions
Just ordered my SC from northridge yesturday, I can't wait to see the results. My speedo is off at around 7-9mph, I also have problems going uphills because my auto transmission or computer does not know it has 5.13 gears and 37" tires(I have to downshift to 2 gear and my rpm's jump to almost 4000 on mountains roads). I will post results later this week. Thanks to everyone on this thread and also David at northridge4x4 for all the help.

You're right. I'm just suffering from a little posting diarrhea!! I guess I was just trying to say that higher octane gas does have more power, you just have to know when you can use it or you would be waisting money to buy it. For those of us without a flash pack, it is driving habits that dictate when you might use high octane gas. For what it's worth, I do most my highway driving in a Yucon Denali (6.1L) and the added advantage in fuel mileage from higher octane gas is about equal to the higher cost so I usually don't bother. I can't drive a whole tank out without stopping anyway!

All else being equal, a higher octane fuel can create more power by allowing the timing and or compression ratio to be changed to enable more efficient combustion (more power), but octane does not change the energy content of the fuel (ie going from gasoline to diesel or JP4
).
Yeah the power remains the same as octane increases, just the stability of combustion changes. To get better use of higher octane fuel, you need to be able to advance timing. If you don't have a mechanism to change the timing, then higher octane fuel adds nothing unless you are in an environment that changes octane dependency such as high heat, low humidity, heavy loads/trailering or stop and go driving where you may have excessive amount of idling and carbon build up.
I had read all these posts (wow….1250), before I finished I ordered my SC Jeep Flashpaq, now I have it and had programmed my JK 08Rubicon 4dr in 87 octanes, adjusted the size tire and TPM.
Everything is amazing and the ratio of km/liter had been increased, obviously more km per liter. I am enjoying it.
Thanks JPod and all of you for comments and impressions.

Flashpaq installed, 87 tune. No noticeable power difference, mileage no better....at least not yet but the JK has been in 4wd a lot since the install.
Did notice shift points improved and no more annoying lights from TPMS after air-downs.

Does anyone know if the Flashpaq will develop similar technology to the sprint booster. in other words, should i wait for superchips to update the software to achieve what the sprint booster does. i know that with the flashpaq, the throttle lag is much better, but there is definitely somehting still there and i was just wondering if the flashpaq will (or could) eliminate the need for the sprint booster.
thanks!
thanks!
