It is interesting that so many people keep saying they notice no gains with the 87 tune. I sure as hell did. I just installed mine yesterday and noticed and immediate increase in get up and go on the side streets. It did kinda sppo me once I was on the highway and I rev'ed close to 5k before shifting. Maybe I just drove like a grandpa before, but DAMN I love it.

My fuel avg, (according to the Jeep) has stayed around 18.5 so far. Which is about where it was. Since I have only gone about 50 miles (mostly city), I'm still watching to see what's what.

thanks!
I would go ahead and get it. The nice thing about the Flashpaq is that you can flash it yourself with any updates.

There have been reports that the PCM relearn has taken as much as a full tank to really settle in. I've posted a few times that a way to make this happen a little quicker is to run through a series of freeway onramp blasts mashing the throttle, perhaps a half dozen should expedite things. I also believe the expectations are pretty high these days, and the Flashpaq is not going to change the 3.8L into a Hemi.

If people do find themselves questioning the performance increase, it would make sense to use the data acquisition portion to run a couple 0-60 blasts, with and without the Flashpaq. For me, I dropped 7/10ths with the Flashpaq 0-60, which calculating it out was between a 15-20hp increase, if memory serves.

Anyway, I don't look back much and the only time I really get to see the differences is when I need to roll my JK to the dealer. Taking it away always registers more on the butt meter than how it rolls on a regular basis.

I had great gains as well, still on 87 tune for 3 months!

I have had the Flashpaq for about 4 months now and I have installed the 87, the 93, and the mileage XS tune and here are my thougts.
On my '09 Rubicon Unlimited 6sp 4200 miles

Mileage XS: 2 tanks of fuel, .4 MPG better, but I thought this engine was a turd when I bought it, install this tune and you will define the word!

87 Tune: Over 15 tanks of fuel, no increase in mileage over stock, no real power gains, minimal at best and only slightly noticable when pulling hills

93 Tune: About 8 tanks of fuel, initial impression on first tank (something was wrong wiht the tuner) no noticable difference except a higer fuel bill, second tank of gas..better, going up hills more effortless, increased throttle response, third tank, very pleased... up pretty large hills I can maintain 70-75 w/o putting it through the floor; I will be sticking to this tune....the downside is I have not seen any increase in fuel mileage and I am paying 20 cents more per gallon. In Virginia where I am we only have 87 89 & 93 octane so I could not try the 91 tune. Also, I don't want anyone to think this is like stuffing in a hemi or putting on a supercharger, the SCT tuner used to tune my cobra produced HUGE power improvements, but we aren't talking about a supercharged mod motor here, expect a more reasonable driving Jeep with the 93 tune, the levels I would have expected from the factory if not more. Oh and the features are really nice and super easy to use, I had a crank position sensor go out last week after my Rubi was buried 3/4 up the stock 32's in mud and snow..... lights started flashing, jeep cut off and didn't want to restart...so I pulled out my handy dandy Flashpaq and scanned for trouble codes and it popped up right there on the screen.... 27 buck later I was back on the road.

Same here, there is a noticeable difference for sure. My mileage has improved maybe 1.5mpg on average using the 87 tune.

I just bought a new 2010 Rubicon, and this going to be my first upgrade. I just wish they would hurry and come out with a version compatible with my 2010.

I think you're in the right slot with 33s and 4.88s, with or without a Flashpaq. I do think a Flashpaq makes a difference between a single step in ratios, but I also believe that even with everything dialed in, you will still be underpowered.

I'm not real happy with the Flashpaq...only benefit I really saw was.....well nothing performance wise. It does everything else I need to to though so I guess I'll keep it at that.
SCT makes good stuff. 10x better is probably a little over the top and comparing performance ranges from one platform to another isn't indicative of the Tuner itself. For different vehicles different programmers or tuners will kick out better numbers.
