Superchips Flashpaq for JK, Initial Impressions
I run the 91 octane - just great! MPG is up about 2 on the highway. City is about the same as it was, but I have stick-shift and work hard at it, because it got some oompf now with 35s! LOL.
I've had my flashpaq for about three months and have tried various tunes. I could tell a real difference between stock and the 87 tune-on 85 octane regular, but don't think there is much improvement in the higher octane tunes over the 87. I'm running the 93 tune at present, with 91 octane as that is premium in our area-around 4500 ft alt. Haven't noticed any pinging at all with any of the tunes. I drove the Jeep round trip to San Diego and back with four adults and about 400 lbs of luggage on the rack with the stock tires and wheels back on (air-lift 1000 bags on the back or it would have been dead axle). I got around 18 MPG for the total 1800+ trip on mostly the 87 tune, but I was switching back and forth. I will probably keep trying the various performance tunes just because I can.
Finally had a chance to try the crawl tune on a gnarly lava rock trail today and think that is probably worth the price of the tuner. It slowed down the throttle a bunch and was much more manageable for "crawling". I'm pretty satisfied with the tuner and have used it to re calibrate for the larger tires in addition to using the performance tunes. I am really amazed at how well my set-up works in the rocks with no lockers. The trail had lots of lava holes, steps and cracks but no boulder hopping. I've considered swapping my axles for rubicons, but don't know if I can really justify the ($3,000+ for used) cost. Some on the run today had lockers and they went through stuff that I don't want to do in my DD anyway.

Some of the guys in my Jeep Club also have open diffs and do just fine in the Florida muck!
BTW, I love the way the Dash Trail pod installation looks - just like factory :-)
I already had plenty of other stuff on the dash/windshield like a front cam, GPS, radar det. My rear cam (easier to hook up my bug-out trailer) now does not need it's own monitor since I could just pug it into the
back of the tuner from behind and under the dash :-)
Just ordered my flashpaq. I'm sure this has been asked but I really can't ready all 189 pages lol.
I have a 2010 Unlimited Sahara automatic. I currently have a k&n intake with stock rims and tires. No other upgrades (yet). What do you guys recommend for me when i get mine? Thanks in advance.
