Are you running 91 in the tow? I am reading mixed posts on what to use.. Just switched to tow and it didn't tell me to use any type of octane like the 91 performance says to use 91 or higher after selecting it.....

 

The tow tune is meant to be run with 91 octane, though some have run it with no problems with 87. You can try it with the 87 and if you experience detonation, go up to a higher octane

 

How do you know when you are getting detonation????

 

The engine will ping under load. It makes a sound like bb's rattling in a can

 

I recently got my flashpaq and I have to say im very impressed! I'm running the 91 performance tune. This is a must have mod for daily-drivability. Power increased and im getting 2-3mpg more than I was stock.

I do have a question though.
The elevation where I live is approx 4500 ft. At the pump our octane options are 85,88, and 91. Given the elevation, could I get away with using the 88 octane for the 91 performance tune?

 

The 88 should work fine at that altitude. Just keep your ear out for pinging, and if it does go back to the 91

Tow tune = awesome

 

I just installed mine this evening. It was a breeze. 5 minutes to update it on the internet and then maybe 10 minutes to install it into the jeep. I decided to run 91 tune at first and it is noticeably quicker and the shifting points really improved. Finally got my speedo dialed in also.

 

I was in the fence but $289+$25 rebate I wnr ahead an ordered, got it today and ran the 87 tune,, pulls much harder!!! One question though, when you run the performance tunes does it tune the transmission as well?
