Superchips Flashpaq for JK, Initial Impressions
Pretty easy to set up. Plug in, turn the key to on, push a couple buttons, switch key to off, switch key back to on, switch key back to off and disconnect the programmer. You're prompted all the way through and the one caveat with the missing dialog screen has been replaced. Best of all, is you can return to stock in a couple minutes instead of over 20. Makes things a lot better when you're trying a couple new things.
So then I take it that the verdict will still be out as far as adjusting the shift points with an auto, until somebody with an auto installs one? Did anybody else happen to call Superchips and ask them about it? Are they open on the weekends?
Thanks....
BTW.......Thanks again JPop....YOU DA MAN...!!!
OH and.......NORTHRIDGE DAVID.....WHERE ARE YOU...???lol

What I have now on my Hemi Ram is adjustable shift points at WOT and some preset adjustments to part throttle shifts and shift firmness, what I believe they refer to as optimized transmission settings. What they have said they are working on for the Ram is Shift/Torque options similar to what they have for the GM 6 speed trucks.
Here's what that is supposed to bring in the future, but I have no idea if it will be in the initial release, and again an operative word is similar.
Shift Torque Option
This feels a lot like the shift pressure we have currently but instead of Stock +2PSI, etc the option is percentage based between stock and the Superchips values. So this means there is (in order from lowest firmness to highest firmness) Stock Value, 25% Superchips, 50% Superchips, 75% Superchips, Superchips Value (which is 100%), 125% Superchips, 150% Superchips, and Max Value. The Max Value is very aggressive on some trucks so we have added a warning screen that says: “Using Max Value removes all torque reduction during shifting. This setting is not covered by Superchips warranty and should be used cautiously.” Then they must accept yes/no. This is the wording we came up with in our engineering meeting. We do record when they use this setting and program the vehicle.
So again, I have no idea if this is what is going to be released but it doesn't look like it is going to be part of the initial package. What I'm pretty sure you'll get is the WOT shift point adjustments and the rev limiter. I'd be hard pressed to see anything good coming out of adjusting a 1-2 shift point over 5200 rpm and a 2-3 shift point at 4800 rpm.
I'm definitely curious to see what is delivered.
Jpop just want to say thanks for your time and write up on the superchip programmer. I have gotten for information from this thread then I have gotten from anyplace else. Almightycrash please let me know how it works on that auto transmission.... I am so in need of some extra power. Great thread thanks
Thanks Jpop....great write-up....I am going to order a Superchips sometime this month....as I was extremely happy with the Superchips programmer with my Dodge Magnum R/T. It woke up my HEMI and improved the stock auto shift points & MPG. Sounds like Superchips nailed it for us 6 spd JK's with a few initial bugs
Who are the Local vendors that have the Superchips flashpaq? Quadratec, Northridge???

Hey Guys, thanks for the kind words!
Managed to roll around for a bit to check out some of the advanced features this morning.
I have a 2007 so I don't have the TPMS feature. So I have never had the issues that so many of you groan about and want to bash with the trusty BFH. Someone else will need to report on that and as the programmer picks up on the model year, it isn't enabled.
Searched for the low throttle response and didn't find it. Don't know if it isn't there or I just missed it. Could be a subset of one of the other tunes, but just didn't have the time to go there and go back. I'll definitely look again before the weekend is out.
Next thing I looked at was the idle control. This something I'm really stoked about, not so much for my Jeep, but a feature I have been waiting for on my Dodge Ram which is next in line to get some additional features which will appear first for the JK. Took a look and it had a range 800-1600 rpm. The motor had to be running to enable it. Adjust the rpm and it pops it up to the desired level. Pretty cool, but the one caveat is as soon as you exit the idle portion of the programmer it returns to the stock 800 rpm.
With now understanding that the programmer needs plugged in and active for the idle control to work I took a little ride through the city streets. Loved it!!! I guess I should also remind people that I have the 6 speed here. I could just rollout without doing the two foot shuffle and no issues with 800rpm bog when your feet are a little out of sync. Messed around with it enough to be happy at 11-1200 rpms, but I have no want of leaving my programmer plugged in all the time.
Just curious, is that something other people would want to have as well, or just the boost in rpm at idle when stopped and using some accessories?
One of the other reasons this is important for me is on my Ram I have an 20% under-drive damper installed. It definitely made some difference in power and you really don't have the need to spin your alternator, AC compressor and power steering pump that fast at cruise speeds. The issue is if you are sitting in traffic on a muggy humid day with the AC on the alternator doesn't make enough power to keep the battery charged. It's definitely an accident waiting to happen for me and I guess I should have waited for the feature to be out for the platform before going ahead with the under-drive pulley.
Now for the part for me to show some of my ignorance. I have the LSD on the Sahara, and had I known then what I know now I would have forked over the extra dollars for a Rubicon. Anyway, I tried to use the 4-HI Locking Axle control and it said it was unavailable for this vehicle. Not sure if that's because of the optional LSD, because I don't have the Rubicon with electronic lockers or an omission on Superchips part. However it falls I'll need to send off an email, or move some true locking differentials up a few notches on my wish list.

Thanks Dave....I will have to get in touch with Northridge or make a trip down to Washington State this spring to save on the PST & GST and maybe add a part or two before I cross the border.
JPOP,
Does the programmer record your stock settings before any changes are made?
Mine runs pretty good and I'd hate to lose what I have if the new power range wasn't something I needed.
Evidently there is an on-road and off-road program settings from what I read. I see they are also working on enhanced MPG settings for other vehicles, is that one of their settings for this one too?
Guess these "V60's" crank after all, eh? LOL
Oh and if anyone plays with the rev limiter options please post it up. I'd like to know where the engine falls flat RPM wise.
