With the Superchips Flashpaq on my Hemi Dodge Ram I see almost a 10% increase in gas mileage using the premium tune over the low octane Mileage XS tune. The price of premium fuel is pretty consistent at 20¢ over regular and 10¢ over mid-grade whether the price of regular is $2 or $4 a gallon. So as the price of gas goes up, the better value the premium becomes as I pull better mileage from it.

Dyno runs around town cost $135 an hour. Making some Dyno pulls would be a bit of a challenge as I am filled up with 94 Octane, and I believe you would need to start off with the standard 87 Octane to do a fair stock vs regular tune Superchips setting. Then of course you need to get some premium in there to pull the peak performance numbers. Those 3 pulls, jerking around with gas cans to change fuel and a couple program and re-programs are going to eat up an hour and at the end of watching my $135 go away telling me something I already know.

Anyway, perhaps someone else wants to do it, but I don't think it's in the cards for me.

I am scheduled to loan my jeep to superchip sometime next week so they can run some "before and after" testing using thier dyno.

I have an automatic and I just finished my suspension updgrades allowing me to run 37 x 13.5 x 17 and for now i still have my stock 3.73(i think that is the ratio). So the testing will be very vehicle specific.

I dont get the opportunity to check in on this board very often. However, i will do my best to post up again after the testing with some dyno data.

If I had dyno time at SC with your rig I'd definitely get gears before I got there.

37s/auto/3.73s aren't a good combination and a programmer isn't going to bail you out. Might make the difference between 4.88s and 5.13s, but you're asking a ton out of it on a rig that is probably best suited for 5.38s.

thanks for your input. i am definitly not looking for a programmer to compensate for gearing...

i will be re-gearing soon. but they asked if they could test my jeep with my current setup, sounds good to me and i can always adjust the tuning later after the re-gear.

you are asking me, right?

I am really not sure what kind of "before and after" testing is scheduled to be conducted. All i know is, they want to tune it and get some result data for thier database.

I will try to update in a couple weeks.

I wasn't planning on doing one as my past results with my truck suggested that regular fuel would need to be under $2 a gallon before it provided a cost savings. With the summer months just ahead and I'm sure inflated gas prices, the relative percentage price increase of premium is negligible. I also need to let the re-learn stuff catch up as I haven't exactly driven the way I normally do since the installation.

BTW, it was mentioned and absolutely not in a boastful manner by one of their engineers that the Superchips regular fuel tune exceeded the performance of their competitors premium tune.

aww, man....you say stuff like that, and make me question my decision to get 5.13s instead of 4.88s.
I hate these choices.

Hey Crash, you're still pushing pretty big meats so I think the 5.13s are still the way to go.
