Superchips Flashpaq for JK, Initial Impressions
Just installed it. Took about ten minutes. I set it to 87 octane and drove it around the neighborhood a couple times. Didn't notice any seat of the pants improvement but I know I didn't give it much of a chance. I will update after I do some real driving. As far as registration mine has a 07/09/2009 date on it so that's relatively recent. I updated it anyway and the registration and update took about 15 minutes total. Not bad in my opinion. Can't wait to see first hand what this thing's capable of.
The power for me on the tow setting was all low end and I thought it was pretty cool for light to light and stop sign to stop sign driving. I'm not surprised about the top end as I wasn't looking for it, just the torque hammer to get it out of the hole.

I won't be trying the tow setting again unless I'm actually towing something. I was very disappointed in its performance. It runs sooooo much better on the 91 and 93 octane tunes. As a matter of fact, I drove it for a few hundred miles in the how setting and got fed up and pulled over and switched to 91 octane tune.
Maybe, its just my Jeep, but it ran worse than stock in the tow setting. It had no top end power at all.

Does anyone know why the tuner needs to install (update) it's file seems like every week???? I plugged it into my 'puter thinking maybe just maybe the TPMS might be in here and a big file is loading up but from what I see on the forum it's not.
The updates are for the most part the addition of specific vehicle calibrations as new ones become available. They don't necessarily change anything outside of for the guy that just bought his new 2009 and Chrysler changed something with the PCM or a component.
Took my Dodge Ram in for service a few years ago and while there the dealer flashed the PCM. Got home and the Flashpaq wouldn't install a tune. Pulled an update and all was fine. In essence, Superchips is often dealing with a moving target.

FWIW: TPMS is definately NOT in the latest update.
Actually, it's the chime that's a problem.
Take a look at the Jeep Flashpaq website:

It doesn't say TPMS is coming when we solve the legal issues. It says it's there now! Personally, I don't like being lied to. If they add it that's great, but at this point they are not being honest.
I'll admit I bought this knowing the feature wasn't there and that I should have checked it out better before I spent my money. Unfortunately, after checking it out further I don't think the feature will be added any time soon, if ever. I hope I'm wrong.

So it stands to reason that some idiot would go off road with 12lbs of pressure in his tires and the TPMS off with the aid of a Superchips, leave the trail without re-inflating their tires, have a blowout at 85mph, kill 3 of the 4 passengers then find a lawyer that wants to go after them or any other company with TPMS options.
Competitive products do it, the SC engineers said they could do it, the marketing people wanted it and at the 12th hour the legal guys put the brakes on. It's definitely a sticky issue and I'm sure they also need to be dealing with whoever provides their liability insurance. So in the end those that are awaiting for it are left hanging. They're left hanging not of bad intent or malice, but because we have a federal law that tries to assist dumb and lazy people by verifying they have enough air in their tires.
Oh and by the way I have a 2007 so I don't have any TPMS issues but need to regularly check the psi in my tires.
I really don't want to get into a debate on this. There are really 2 relevant facts:
Fact 1 - Superchips says TPMS settings can be adjusted.
Fact 2 - They can't.
The rest is just excuses and justification. I'd be much happier if after the TPMS statement on their site it said "coming soon" or something.
Anyway, that's the end of my ranting on this subject. For those who don't have a problem with it that's fine. I'm stuck with this it seems, so will make the best of it.
Just switched to the 87 octane tune and well see how the commute likes it in the morning.
