On the latch side of the carrier. Does that little metal square come with the tire carrier so that the rubber foot doesn't grind into the tailgate?

Do yourself a favor and ditch the stock bumpers. They offer no protection. You will be hating life when you have to repair a quarter panel. Its not cheap. I urge you.... throw the stock junk in the trash.

Isnt that what we have insurance for?

I might build up a better steel underbumper, but want to keep the look of the plastic. I dont know of anyone who actually thought the plastic bumpers were supposed to protect you or your vehicle in a collision. Its just cosmetic.

The stock rear bumper is all plastic, you might be able to fab up a mount that bolts t the rear cross member and comes up through the bumper.

If you like the look of the stock bumper PJ maes great bumper with carrier that you could get Rin lined for the plastic look.
