swing away for stock bumper?
Isnt that what we have insurance for?
I might build up a better steel underbumper, but want to keep the look of the plastic. I dont know of anyone who actually thought the plastic bumpers were supposed to protect you or your vehicle in a collision. Its just cosmetic.

As a recent survivor of a rear collision I can attest to the rigidness of the stock rear bumper. I didn't think it would hold up either but the proof is in the photos. I now plan on keeping the rear bumper till it's completely trashed from the trails.
Now, I will admit, rockcrawling, I don't think the bumper will give you the protection under the back quarterpanels that a solid steel will.
BTW, just to add my .02, I'm planning on going with ORFab swingaway.

Does look like that.
But seriously, is that a twist bar to secure the spare? If so, is that an option and does it come alternately with lug securing?
Looking to get one of these because right now I have a Rampage rear bumper and they don't make it with a swingaway carrier. I really like the look of the bumper though and I think the Or-Fab is a good solution, but I want the spare secured by my keyed lugs.
