Thinking of going with Rancho XL9000's Shocks
So whats a good coating to put on them before installation that I can but from pep boys or the local hardware store?
I'm ready to throw these babys on

Well my shocks aren't but my frame and all linkages are. Keeps any rust from forming.
Keep in mind mine's an 08 and has spent it's life through salty ass Michigan winters.
Only thing that's never been coated were the end links and you can see the rust

id never own a hard top nor would there be a reason for one . heat in the jk will blow you out of the cab !
and snow has never been a issue it in a car port besides even if it wasnt they hold up well with weight from snow too .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdAP847Sx8A I can show thousands , I think if I wanted a roof rack where I stood up on it it might be a good idea but even then soft tops are ok with them too . check around !! youl see tons
we get lots of snow too. never had a problem it cleans up well, I don't leave it out side to let it load up and leave it sitting on there

Haha. I know you will get a kick out of this but I have a pep boys service center a few blocks away and I went in just to ask them what it would cost to put on my rancho lift kit. Yes, I know not to go to pep boys but the last time I went there the owner who is nice local guy who has worked in the biz for years, helped me out a lot last time I was there and gave me a great deal. I'm looking for a mechanic that is honest and does great work on the cheap, and I dont care if its under the pep boys umbrella. The other problem is that the 4x4 shop close by has so many terrible online reviews that I cant take it there fo' sho.
Anyways, they quoted me $560 to have the work done. Haha.
I went from buying 4 shocks to be put on myself for free, to having to possibly pay and extra $550 to go up 2 inches with the lift kit.
Update ... I called the crap 4x4 shop and they quoted me $250 which is still better.
LA has no good Jeep mechanics that is for sure.
