I made the following list a few years ago for my local clubs website.

I'm tired of carrying every tool I own in my jeep so I'm making a list of tools to carry specific to my JKU Rubi and thought I would share it and see if you guys can add more. I'll list the tool/size and what it's used for. Once we get a good list maybe one of the mods can make it a sticky like the TJ 'Should Have' Tool list.

^^^^. Good list. Are you sure about that ABS sensor? 18 mm? The whole sensor isn't that big.

And I think OEM DSs are 10 mm.

Might also add programmer, if Jeep tune is modified. Might want to take back to stock tune if at a dealer for repair while on a trip.

Probly wrong on the ABS sensor. Most of this list I made by crawling around underneath. Some items were suggestions from others. The ABS must be a typo. I'll double check the original thread and correct it here. Thanks for pointing that out. Also, this was for my 2011 JKU Rubi. Anyone using this should double check everything on their own rigs.

List corrected. ABS sensor is 8mm.

I don't know if it's because you have a Rubicon, or because you have a newer Jeep, but on my '09 Sport the swaybar links in the front are 18mm. I just disconnected and reconnected them this weekend and remember finding a socket easily and then being irritated that I didn't have a 18mm wrench. I have one of the common sets that come with a 17 and an 19.

Double checked and my DS are 8mm. Sway bar links I will check another day. As a couple guys have pointed out, there are likely a few errors so be sure to double check everything on your own rigs.

It's an 8mm 12 point. They are easy to strip so a 12 point is a must.

DS=8 mm, yes. As for swaybar links, there may be some differences if folks have installed aftermarket parts. May be SAE. Ditto for the DW hardware upgrade kit.

"Easy to strip", LOL. I broke TWO Craftsman sockets replacing my front DS with a Tom Woods. The Sears guy was agog when I told him I broke them changing a DS ("No way a driveshaft is held in with 8 mm head bolts!" "Indeed there is; ten of them on each end in fact!", said I. LOL.). Anyway, the bolt heads are hex, so a hex socket (six sided) would be a better, stronger fit.

Adding to everyone's (very comprehensive, yet incomplete) lists: SAFETY GOGGLES! Because it sucks when you're wrenching under your jeep and you get dried mud falling IN your eyes while you work!
