Gang I was thinking....

Shutting of ESP, should in theory defeat the TPMS system, because TPMS should be an integrated part of the ESP system. One could understand that for ESP functions to work properly that one's tires would need to be inflated to proper psi as reported by the sensors.

Perhaps this question should be asked of AEV since they are swapping wheels on all conversions that they build.

When driving offroad with extremly low PSI, say under 20, one would be driving offroad at slower speeds and in 4x4 so shutting of ESP to defeat TPMS should be a good function.

I wish that the new CRYINC would be recptive to addressing issues such as this one and producing what I think that they should call Capability Service Bullitens to adjust or solve problems with high tech systems for those who drive off road.

Re-Flashing the Computer with the TPMS function defeated when ESP is shut off seams to be the right solution for when I would need this to not chime or show the (_!_) icon. We will not drive on a regular basis with low tire pressure.

I appreciate the ESP as I have already decided that it helps out a ton as we drove on greasy roads a few times in it this week and it is amazing how much traction aid can be had from braking assist that is in the program.

This is what I'm planning. Can anyone answer this?

Yes, this is what I've been told.
I also bought new sensors for my 35"s as I decided to keep the stock wheels and tires in case of any warranty repair issues so I could just put them back on and with a quick reflash they would be good to go. Unfortunately, after installing the sensors and mounting the tires on the wheels I was informed by the dealer that you have to program into the computer during reflash the eight digit ID number off of each sensor. They said there is no way during the reflashing process to read the ID code off the sensors remotely and it has to be manually inputted. This seems crazy as once the vehicle is programed it is able to varify / read the ID off of each sensors unless there is an issue with the vehicle sensing too many TPMS equipped wheels, such as when at a dealership with lots of simular sensors on wheels in close proximity, during the reflash process. In any case it is either BS or you need to write down all the ID codes before mounting the tires. From now on, to play it safe, I will keep a record of the codes. Has anyone else had a simular experience with the TPMS sensors?

UPDATE: Just went to the dealer and I was able to get their computer to remotely read the ID codes off the new sensors. They ran the reflash and all is well, except I still got a bill for the reflash after I had to show them how to read the codes remotely.

So you are saying that without any sensors, it only dings at startup? I just bought a replacement set of tires for off-roading, but am keeping the stock wheels. That's good because dinging during my wheeling trips would not be fun.

so if i pull the wheels off, drive them home in another vehicle I shouldn't set off the light? So what happens when I come home in the Jeep and the puter picks up the RF from the sensor's which are in the wheels which are in my garage? Sure would be nice if Jet or Hypertech or somebody would add an option to turn this off when reflashing the puter.

The sensor stayed off in mine for about 10 days. The light and chime are always on now. My stock wheels with the TPMS are in the garage right next to where I park the jeep but it makes no difference. I dont think they send a signal until they are moving.

I don't think any 07s have it. When I turn the key on the tps light comes on and goes off within a sec ( on the dash ). Also the valves on the rims are metal instead of rubber.

I believe the government regulation for TPMS in all cars started half way through the year 2007, so all 2008+ cars will have it.
