Trashed 5.13's
Sorry if this is the wrong section
Does anyone know if the gears purchased from Northridge4x4 have a warranty. I pucheased a front and rear set of 5.13's from them around the beginning September. I've put about 2500 miles on them and this past saturday they decided to give up. The ring gear is destroyed and the pinion is chewed up from the missing teeth on the ring gear. If anyone knows please let me know.
Thanks

I wondered about the warranty as well. Below is what David told me in an e-mail to him on the 4.88s I purchased from him. JoKer, he problem you are going to have is, did the gears fail or were they improperly set up? Experience suggests the former is by far the more likely scenario. Edit: and alf above it probably right, but you know they are going to question the installation...

Manufacturer of the gears is a company called CHA.
1 yr warranty on them.
Just so you know they are the same gears as Yukon sells, but I cut out the middle man.

You would have to have a highly competent third party installer investigate and render a professional decision as to whether the gearset failed or the disaster was attributable to improper setup and/or improper break-in.

If I were in your shoes, I would make a phone call to David and a call to CHA as well, but I'd be prepared to do just as you're saying. I would not hesitate to do another set of CHA gears from Northridge; the guy has simply sold too many hundreds (if not thousands) of sets of CHA JK gears to assume they're no good. And let's face it, "brand name" gears fail too.
I would, however, shop for a different installer to help eliminate a repeat performance if in fact the former mechanic set the front up incorrectly (and I'd be careful to do a strict break-in similar to what you'll find on Randy's Ring and Pinion).
