Thanks, I have the 2 door, but I guess the Bestop door surrounds fit the same. I guess I'll give it some time in the sun and see if it loosens up some. Right now that top edge is not fitting very well...

I have the two door also and I've tried putting the top on all over again. The top of the quarter window is still not fitting in the door surround either. I'm going to attempt to stretch it out with a hair dryer, it's been out in the heat for 3 days. We will see of the dryer does anything.

Let me know how that works. So far the fit around the top of the door surround is my only complaint.

I do have one other question, do you have to removed the two brackets that the springs attach to when you put the factory soft top back on, or can they stay in place?

I saw this answered on another thread, unfortunately these need to be removed to replace the hardtop.

I saw that response as well, but I have the factory soft top, not the hard top, so I was wondering if it had to be removed to replace the factory soft top. I have a 2 door if it matters. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity...why are you using both the factory soft top and the Trektop?

I wanted a safari top but they don't fit right on the 2011-2013 JKs because the door surrounds no longer have the channels for the plastic tabs on the top of the door surrounds. I could have bought door surrounds for the 07-10 JK and it would have fit perfect but then I would have had to carry door surrounds along with the windows when we travel (we tow it behind our motor home), so it was just easier to get the NX because we can have it closed up while towing it or during bad weather, and just remove the windows for the safari top when we're at the campground. During the off season (winter) when we don't travel, I prefer the factory soft top because it can be dropped completely on a warm sunny day.

It can't actually be dropped. You can have it in sunrider mode or just off.

Yep, what he said ^^^! I had a safari top on the 04 TJ and it fit great! But, you could put that on in a matter of minutes and still have the soft top attached for travel/bad weather. The new model safari just fits like crap IMO, so even though the NX was more than twice as expensive, for what I wanted it's actually easier because I just have to zip the windows in and out as opposed to raising and lowering the top and zipping windows, then installing a safari top! With as hot as it gets in the summer, we need the shade, but enjoy the open air feel you get with the safari top, and still have a bit of protection if your caught in a sudden shower. I prefer the factory soft top for fit and finish, but at the moment, no one makes a decent Safari Top that does what I want, so this will have to do!

For the record, my factory soft top is much quieter than the NX, but that may be because the leading edge of the side windows have not stretched enough to fit correctly at the top edge of the door surrounds, so there is an gap that I feel is the source of the wind noise I hear going down the road!
