They must have. Mine doesn't have any problems noted here. Mine didn't come with "slick tape" either. No dent in tailgate, sits flat. I am pretty happy with it. The mounting is not really secure though. You can stick your hand in the gap between the jack hole and grab the panel enough to yank it up fairly easily due to how it "mounts". I think a few screws through the mounting piece into the body would cure that. It is much sturdier than the stock one and is working out well for me. I would buy it again.

I installed mine which I ordered through Quadratec a couple of months ago and found none of this threads problems. No sticky tape, etc. Tuffy must have fixed these problems for their recent product.

Hm. Any chance you have a picture of the left corner? That's the one that's scratched and dented our doors.

Thanks,
js.

I got it for Christmas. I actually mis-spoke. I was just doing some work on the Jeep and checked. Yeah it dented the door. Probably will do just like everyone else's. Mine did not come with the magic tape though. That probably would've prevented it .

I got mine to cover up the hole because I took out the carpet. It looked stupid with the factory cover and you couldn't put weight on that one. I also noticed that the goofy mounting bracket has slid and will probably need constant attention.

i have the rear locking deck lid. I spayed it with durabak when i sprayed my tub. i have not had any of the above mentioned issues. mine also did not come with sticky tape. i just went out to double check and not even a slight blemish anywhere on tailgate or or tuffy lid. either they redesigned them or i got a good one because even with the durabak sprayed on top and underside (combined total of about 3\16) still no problems. so far the onlything that concerns me with design is the fact that you could pry really hard on left side and bend it, however it is not an issue even with doors off as long as you lock the tailgate when leavin the jeep unattended. with gate locked there is know way any one could pry it up even if they could break the lock or even take the rusty screws out(my other complaint, hello it is a jeep it is going to get wet!!), you stilll can't get it to move enough to come out. over all i am very satisfied with the product and would recomend it to anyone looking for a little more security.
