Talking Slick Tape Facts

All of you guys complainin' need to get a grip! Tuffy has manufactured a product ahead of its time and features the numerous benefits of the space age product known as "slick tape", In previous posts some have gone so far as to ridicule the use of "slick tape" and even go to the insulting lengths of comparing it to plain old electrical tape- Not the same thing! No, sir!

Slick tape was designed by NASA in 1984 in close consultation with a southern polititian, Slick Willy (one of his associates invented this very internet which allows you to disparage the futuristic slick tape)...

Other products which stemmed from this research include "Slick 50" and anti-burst whoopee cushions- "more fun with less embarrassing failures," as the slogan went.

Default Sorry but slick tape doesn't prevent the dent

Space age or not you will likely still get a dent in the bottom of your tailgate because the cover is too high on the left side - period. Tuffy needs to fix it if they want to keep sellin' 'em.

LOL - maybe what we really need is a combination of the slick tape and the Slick 50? Hell, why not add in the whoopee cushion - it's guaranteed not to burst and you will get "more fun" on those bumpy roads!

Our JK is a 4 door. The measurements we have for the 2 door show that the distance is the same between the Cubby cover mounting points and the tailgate.

By the way, here are some pictures of my scratches (sorry for the poor quality - the reflection off the tailgate was messing with the autofocus on my crappy camera):

I just sent my email to Tuffy to get More Slick Tape - woo hoo!

Plus the tailgate can be left unlocked in an attempt to keep some a-hole from cutting the window.

I haven't noticed any problems but haven't been looking under the gate . . .

Wink Mine is dented

Mine is dented too and it has a nice scratch, but when I close the gate the thing doesn't rattle and that would bother me more than one more dent, granted I don't like a dent that is not from the trails, but I don't think it will bother me. I have the two door. -Captain

I just checked mine this morning. No dents or scratches and its a 2-door. I left the slick tape on plus I keep it locked so it won't rattle.

When I go back out, I'll measure. Unless you design it to remove the backs seat, it should work. In fact it fits into the metal retainers behind the seat and covers the jack compartment.
