Default Wheel Spacers

I just bought a new Sahara Unlimited. I'm going to keep the stock wheel/tire combo for a while. Has anyone added wheel spacers just to give their jeep a more aggressive stance??

I was considering these.
jeep4x4center.com/wheel-information.asp?number=WSH010[/url]

Would it hurt anything to add them?
Would it change my ride characteristics?
Will they affect my Tire pressure monitoring system?

Thanks...

I've got an '07 Sahara Unlimited. I recently got the spacers you're looking at, and the TF leveling kit.

I put the spacers on last night, but with a 3 and 4 year-old you can run out of time really fast. I won't be able to do the leveling kit 'til tonight, so I drove to work today (50 miles, some highway, some backroads) with just the 1-1/2 inch spacers and the stock wheels (18 inch) and tires.

I don't know if it's my imagination, but the car felt more stable, kinda like a go kart.

I'm gonna put bigger tires on it (different wheels too) after I wear the stockers out. I haven't been on this board too long, but it looks like you can't give away stock Sahara wheels and tires. Everyone has them for sale, but I haven't seen anyone looking for them. That'll also give me time to decide what my next step in the vertical direction will be.

Good luck - Jack

BTW - I forgot to answer your questions:

It won't hurt anything.

It will not affect your TPMS.

Unless you're racing at Le Mans, you won't notice a difference in ride charachteristics.

Thanks for the reply. I'm in the same boat as you. You can't really sell these wheels/tires, so I'm just going to use them up. I really don't mind the look right now, I just thought it might look nicer with a slightly wider stance. When it's time to replace tires, I will probably go bigger and get a 2" lift.

I would love to see some pics with your spacers installed. Do the spacers push the tires out even with the fender flares?

Just took these with my phone.

I don't think it looks any different unless you're looking dead on. I guess any racoons in the road might think "wow - that looks cool!" just before they get squashed.

Like I said, it won't hurt anything. I installed them because:

1) You need to when you use the leveling kit (clearance for the sway bar links).
2) I can now put cable chains on when it snows.
3) I plan to get bigger wheels anyway, and I'll need them then.

Hope that helps.

Jack

The spacers were designed so a JK could accommodate a larger tire or lift. The JK is wide for a jeep with out the spacers. On the other hand it probable won’t hurt anything.

Yes there are concerns to be aware of when utilizing wheel spacers.

I used the search button. I failed to find a reason that installing these correctly will harm his (or my) vehicle. I also failed to find a reason it would affect the TPMS. As for the ride, I've driven 150 miles today on various roads and have noticed no difference.

If you are kind enough to take the time and effort to point out that I am wrong, would you be kind enough to let me know why? You mentioned that there are concerns - could you post what they are?

Thanks, Jack

I know of no TPMS issues regarding spacers either.
But it has been suggested that the additional length they add to the axles acts like leverage against the bearings, seals etc. potentially causing increased wear and tear....
I've been running 'em for over a year, on and off road without any issues but an individual looking to use them should be educated and have respect for their upkeep.
Spacers have been a hotly debated issue here, some agree with their use, some really don't. Either way, instal using manufacturers recommendations.
By the way, not saying your WRONG, just saying there are concerns to be aware of with their use.
