Started running spidertrax at 8,000m, got 35's 3 weeks later, ran them for a tad over 30,000miles

So, I don't think you'll hurt anything by running quality spacers on your jk.

Default Hey Five1 - I forgot to mention

These spacers use a 19mm lug nut, same as the ones for the wheels.

The hole for them is tight - both of the 19mm sockets I had handy were thick-walled (impact) and would not fit in the hole. I used a thin-walled 3/4 (19mm=.748in) that was on the bench.

You may want to check that before you take the wheel off like I did.

I put the spidertrax on my '07 4-dr sahara when I got it, put about 30K miles on them so far, no troubles. Slightly wider stance, just bearly clear the fenders. Waiting for the tires to wear out (probably another 10K), will go to 33s then & new rims to get the really wide stance typically seen on Jeeps.

Default Don't mean to HiJack...but I think it's relavant...

I'm looking at the Spidertrax as my next mod. Is this something I can do on my own or should it be left to a tire shop? Or will they even touch something like this? Not sure if alignment or balancing is compromised when these are installed.

You can do these yourself for sure. All you need is a torque wrench.

My local Les Schwab (pacific NW tire store) flat out refused to even rotate my tires with the spacers on. They say it would void their customer agreement because they cannot insure a product they themselves did not sell you and install for you.

I've had to install/uninstall my spacers multiple times it takes about an hour if you're doing it alone. (My 35's and rims weigh ~80+lbs a piece) it's not the hardest thing to do. Just get multiple jack stands and a good floor jack. Torque wrench is fairly essential and some impact style sockets won't fit between the lug and spacer wall, I haven't had these problems with my socket sets but others have.

I haven't had any issues with alignment although the ride is a little different, I prefer to have spacers on the JK than off, it makes the ride more stable w/my lift especially off-road

I was in the same boat as you. I need to keep my rig somewhat pedestrian since it's my DD and I have three little one to load in it. Put on 1.5" Spider Trax spacers on mine a year ago, not one problem. I also put on the TF leveling kit. Again, no problems, recently upgraded the tires to Duratrac 295/65R18's on the stock wheels. Could probably ditch the spacers as it looks like there won't be any rubbing issues. However, I put them on in the first place for purely cosmetic reasons. Now the tires sick out a little and it looks more like a Jeep! I cloesly followed all manufacturer's instructions for the lift and the spacers, including the red thread locker. If you follow the directions and exercise some good commons sense, you'll be fine.
