1 I took them off for a few days. My buddy who owns a off road shop asked me why I did that. I said I don't need them anymore. He told me he adds them to a lot of jeeps for a wider stance. I went home and got them we installed them and it looks good.
2 I never had a issue. Why not.
As far as name calling you stupid ass moronic dummy. You said if there was one chance in a million you would never do it. Well look at the odds of you having a car wreck, slipping in the shower. Just to name a few are a lot less.
So now I just made a comment of my actual real life experiance with spacers as has many others here. You make a ASSumption off of things you read. I never called you a name or insulted you. You come back calling me a d-bag? You can have your own opinion but the odds you gave made your opinion look misinformed.
So for now I say kiss my ass and go drive your jeep all you want. I just drove mine down from the mountains on a twisty turny road 200 miles to wheel in vegas. Iam going to wheel this weekend and then drive this jeep home. ALL ON SPACERS!
Your the d-bag
A google search revealed:
from a jeep with 31 inch tires..
This is a spidertrax.

Another brand..

This one had the rear lugs break while going around a corner at 85 mph.. he used hardened studs and lugs.. the most expensive stuff..

from the jeep above:

So.. draw your own conclusions of if it's 'worth the risk'... but there's no doubt about spacers being a compromise.
If yo choose to use them.. one word of advice.. Reinforce your 'c's 1st.. You should do that before changing backspacing thru new wheels too.. Pushing the wheels out further greatly increases stress on your knuckles, c's and axles.. I ran spacers (with stock wheels and tires) on my last jk, and bent the C's 1st time out with 'em.. It's under $100 to save you over $1000.
Cheers!

X2 the user asked about them and there is a safety risk added to the daily use of the vehicle. What I have found is that when people have something regardless of what it is that object is the best. An honest fact of the matter is you either don't have an issue with the added risk or you do. Personally driving next to a truck that lost a wheel on the HWY it sucks for those around you when it happens and I am sure it is not fun to be driving the vehicle when they fail.
FWIW, mine should be delivered today (Spydertrax 1.5").
I researched the hell out of it. Can something go wrong? Yep. If you buy a proven, reliable brand and maintain them as has been prescribed in this thread, is failure a significant risk? Nope.

Any time you change something there is a chance for failure.
Is your Jeep lifted?
There is more of a chance of a bolt falling out of your lift somewhere than a wheel spacer coming loose. Lift kit bolts are supposed to be checked every 3000 also, do you refuse to do that as well? I drive my wife, 3yo, and newborn in my Jeep almost everyday. I check my spacers, brake fluid, lift bolts and spacers at EVERY oil change and after EVERY wheeling trip. I'm not worried about it in the least. I have found things loose, but only after a 4wheeling trip.
Clawhammer will do that to a Jeep!
