Default Wheel spacers need help!!

I know this has been covered probably many times but... what brand should I go with and why..

Rough country 1.5" wheel spacers:

Spaces wheel 1.5" allowing use of wider tires.
Hub centric design.
Made from 6061-T6 Aluminum.
Spacers are corrosion resistant.
Studs are preinstalled.

Spidertrax 1.5" wheel spacer:

These 5 on 5", 6061T6 aluminum spacers are an easy way of spacing out front and rear 07-11 Jeep Wrangler JK, 2006-Present Commander, & 2005-Present Jeep Grand Cherokee WK axles. Each kit comes with 2 wheel spacers, 10 standard wheel studs (pre-installed), 10 lug nuts, and Loctite. Each wheel spacer is anodized in dark blue, using a double anodizing process for twice the corrosion resistance. In addition, each wheel spacer is wheel and hub centric for a perfect fit

they both are Hub centric so why pay more for the spidertrax ones??

Thanks

I wondered this myself while I was researching my lift kit. I went with the Poison Spyder spacers just because of a discount they were running at the time.

makes me all warm and fuzzy that I got Spidertrax. One other thing about spidertrax is if you email them with a specific question they will respond very fast. I would buy them again.

I'm of the opinion brand does not matter. What matters is the material they are made from and the overall design parameters. If its made out of the same material, machined well, similar dimensions and hub centric you have essentially the same thing.

I went with some 2'' spacers off ebay all 4 for 80 bucks. I checked reviews and none were negative. When they arrived I examined them for any noticeable defects in design or craftsmanship and found none (doesn't mean there were none).

I installed them using Loctite and torqued them all properly. I have had them on for several thousand miles, no vibrations and nothing I can note as being negative.

Now that is not to say tomorrow all 4 wheels wont fall off and my jeep catches fire, similar to what happens every time someone runs 37's on a Dana 30 or doesn't re-gear if they have 35's but I'm an extreme risk taker like that.

Save your money. Spidertrax is a quality product but it is made exactly the same as most all other spacers using the same material and same design. However it is a pretty blue vs. just straight aluminum so factor that in if you need to.

This is of course just my opinion but people get to hung up on brand names, 6061 aluminum is 6061 aluminum and the process of machining a wheel spacer is the same for anyone who wants to make one.

Do pay attention to brand,
The reason is, a lot of chain tire stores will not work on some. Even for a flat repair. Discount tire in texas will only work on spidertrax. Or other top quality name brands. If you buy the wrong ones, no free rotations or flat repairs, period. I have spidertrax. I pulled in and they told me they would not do a rotation. I told them what they were and the did it for free.

And don't forget! It is only 6061 aircraft aluminum if it is used on an aircraft. That always bothered me !!!!!!

Some of the test results in the link above seem to indicate that a mfg 'saying' you are getting 6061 and/or grade 8 does not mean that you actually are. Hard to know until someone tests all of the various brands at the same time at the same place I guess.

I can do the tire rotation myself so not to worried about that but Ive been researching them a ton, not really feeling the blue though for the spidertrax.

bustabiz on this site sells Spidertrax for $180 shipped. For me it was well worth it. As for the blue color it is not something you see when the wheel is mounted unless you really search to see it. me personally I would rather support a USA company selling USA made products using USA produced materials. I will spend more to find clothing made in the USA then imported and do the same on jeep parts when I can. Sometimes it is not possible but when it is I do.
