Glad to see you found the CT thread.....Welcome!

Things have been a little quiet around here lately. We have quiet spells now and again,
but if you check in and say "Hi" there will most likely be someone like myself that will say Hi back.
There was a time when this thread was more active than any of the other area threads on the forum...even California!!!

As for wheelin' , looks like there might be a run the Saturday after Thanksgiving...I'm not sure where yet though. Here, check out this thread link---> poll: trail ride
There was supposed to be a run last Sat. (I couldn't make that one) but I guess things didn't work out and it didn't happen,
too many folks getting work done on their rigs all at the same time it seems.

There's not too many legal trails in CT, so when we have gone on runs they have mainly been up in Mass, because there are a bunch of cool places up there.

Hey mike where did you get that quote?
old or new testament?

Hey everyone.

Amy and I are on the hunt for a another Jeep. We'd prefer a TJ I6 auto around $3,000 but we know that is going to be a hard find so we would settle for a 4 banger but it has to be auto as Amy wants to off road it too. If you find anything let me know! It's not going to be a daily driver so pretty doesn't matter too much

Cool! Glad to hear that you may be rejoining the Jeep family. I would suggest looking around some of the small, out-of-the-way mechanics' shops... I know I've seen an older YJ and a built (but very used-looking) TJ driving past some shop on Rt 10 through Simsbury, but have no idea what kind of price they'd be trying to get.

One thing to keep in mind is that now it's winter, so you're going to pay a little bit of a premium for 4WD (and sports cars are cheap now), whereas in summer you'd pay a little premium on a go-fast car, and 4x4s are cheaper.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, and hope that you can find a suitable Heep at the right price.

Thanks mike, I've got a list on craigslist who I've emailed and will start calling in the next few days. I've been so busy with the holiday I haven't had a chance yet.

That's funny.. I've always seen far lower pricing on Jeeps in the winter. I know a few used car guys and they beg to get rid of them come fall/early winter. They consider them summer hot sellers. Right now.. nothing is a hot seller. If you find one somewhere... offer them half asking and go from there. I've seen a few small lifted TJ's (98 or so) going for under 5 G's asking price. Remember that the dealers have a good markup on used cars.

Any one ever swap out a tranny? I found a really good deal on a YJ but 5th gear is gone and I would need a hand... Jeep will be in a heated garage in Meriden, beer and pizza for any helpers

I haven't pulled the trigger yet because the tranny but am considering it, pending some help.

I helped a friend of mine pull his trany out of his YJ....it wasn't too bad of a job.
The only real problem we ran into was the two top bell housing bolts
were Torx head bolts instead of the standard hexhead bolts.
Boy were we pissed off, because we ended up having to wait till we got the correct socket
just for 2 bolts that were keeping us from getting the trany out.

I could help you with that...and I have the socket too

how much with the blown tranny? There is a red yj bare stock with no signs of offroad use, hard & soft tops. 4 banger 5 speed. 160,000 miles. Runs and drives. just over a grand. I think it's an 89.
