I think 888 can attest to that.
Right - as hard as it might get to keep convincing yourself of that, it IS true... I hope you get it soon! BTW - I think that the factory made some changes, so I think that the vehicles you guys end up with will be a lot better than the ones that the "early buyers" had all the complaints about [I'll elaborate in a future post]- just something else to look forward to! I'm going to try to do a detailed write-up of my impressions, etc., with some pics, but have to get out there and drive it some more first (and find time to take out the soft top with the wife's help).

Hey 888........I'm gonna be up at bat soon, so was wondering: what were the things you looked for when you picked up your vehicle ? Your inspection of the jeep BEFORE you left the dealer.

Hope that you don't have to sit on-deck too long Clubber.

I paid close attention to the paint, and looked down both sides from each end, looking for any small dings or ripples (I'm sure you'd do this anyway). Found a couple very minor scratches behind the driver-side door (mine's a 2dr), and made the dealership write down that they'd repair for me - I have an appointment Tuesday for that. Checked the hinges paint (even though other posters have said that the dealership won't do anything about that) - looked good to me.

I made sure to ask the salesman if the service department had checked all the hardtop seals in their "pre-delivery inspection" (PDI), and he said that they had literally pulled out a hose and run water all over the top to make sure that there weren't any leaks. Seems like he was honest, because it's been fine for me.

I also took a good look inside, to make sure that no one had scratched up the interior plastic, etc. Checked the angle of the headlights before I left the dealership, to make sure they were well-adjusted (it was night-time). I checked the radio to make sure it worked OK - did. I had my dealer install a remote start, so naturally I made sure that worked OK.

Of course, looked under the hood to make sure that nothing really obvious was wrong. I HAD asked the dealer to have their service dept. remove the soft top from inside the hard top... but they couldn't - apparently the JKs ship from the factory with a big new sticker: "DO NOT REMOVE - FOR CUSTOMER REMOVAL ONLY" black on blaze orange. That's quite a bit different from the old stickers that DCX was shipping with the early JKs...

Other than that, I can't recall anything else specific that I looked for... probably looked for one or two other things, but can't think of them right now. Feel free to post any other questions - glad to help out.

Again, hope your wait isn't much longer!

Hey there MJS, I know that your gonna be pulling out the soft top soon, make sure the parts in the boxes are correct. I have the dual tops also, and mine came with two passenger side door rails and the rear window in the box was un-tinted when it was supposed to be tinted. Also in the box for the windos there should be a couple of elastic straps, for holding up the rear window when it's rolled up.

PS: If, since you have the top off, you think that you will try to set up the soft top, see what the owners manual says about it first. Because in mine it says not to install the soft if the temp. is under fourty degrees because you may damage the top (the cold air will make the plastic easy to break) and the warranty won't cover it.

If you have a heated garage, then that's a horse of a different color
good luck, and let us know how you made out.

Hey Chopper. I just took out the soft top, then put the hard top back on (we're supposed to get some snow, I guess?). Anyhow, the hard top was a huge PITA to do (wife is very short, and not nearly as strong as me - but it's my own fault, because I turned down an offer from a mechanic who knows what he's doing ). So, while we were resting from the hard top effort, the wife and I went for a nice ride without a top and windows down... it was, um, "exhillarating." [BRRRR] I'm either really hard-core or pretty stupid, or a little of each... but at least I can say I drove topless in Feb! Didn't look at any of the soft top hardware yet - still sealed in boxes, but will do so in the next couple weeks - thank you for that heads-up.

You guys went for a ride in this weather without a top
I wish I could have seen the expressions on some of the peoples faces that saw you two.
I can just imagine what you both looked like...cold, but with a grin from ear to ear
Well...it's about ten of five in the AM here in Manchester, and there's about five inches of snow in my backyard

Looks like some more 4 wheel drive fun

Sorry Clubber and Dkooz, I'm not trying to rub it in so please don't take it personal You guys will be out there wheelin' soon too.
It will be nice to read an excited post from you folks when your Jeeps arrive also.
Till then hang in there.

I'm gonna go to bed now(again)...I got up and had an after midnight snack:toung: and decided to take a quick peek at the forum.

Hey boys...........888, I think i'll prob. do the insp. pretty much just the way you did. All you can do is look at the major stuff , large dents , leaks etc. The only other thing I was thinking of was a test ride, which I never did on other vehicles.
Just in case there is some strange noise comming from the brakes or something ,or the whistling people are talking about . Then have the dealer make a note of it rite from the get go .
More snow in Conn today...........hope it doesen't slow my del. up !!

Hey Clubber: A test drive's not a bad idea... I know I was paying really close attention to how it drove on the way home (and would've turned around if there was an issue), but that's a pretty good idea. That way, you can identify any issues before you drive it home (but either way, you're going to be covered under warranty).

Chopper: Yeah, we went topless in Feb, and it was somewhere just above 32 degrees (the snow was melting a little bit yesterday, but it was still pretty f'n cold!). I'm linking to a new post with some of my initial observations and a couple poser shots... https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...7011#post37011

I posted on my Intial Obs. thread, but will repeat here: 3/8 would be a lucky sign, since you'll have a 3.8L engine... maybe coincidence, but I'd like to think that some of these things have a deeper meaning. In any case, I'm excited for you! You're gonna love it, and I hope it gets here tomorrow!
