The good news is............................. there's no bad news !!.........
Did alot of runnin around yesterday , started the jeep a bunch of times : it started rite up every time, no hesitation of any kind.
Feels like it has plenty of power, or it dosen't feel like there's a lack of power at all. Before the jeep I had a Chev S-10 ZR2 w/4.3 engine, it dosen't feel like it has any less power than that.
Still no weird noises. The softtop is quiet on the highway, there's no whistling or squeeking or any other noises that got my attention.
Allthough i'm a man of few words , i'll prob make a post of my first impressions next week ( hope it's still all good then ).
888......... I think you were rite about later builds being a little better ( so far at least ). What was that post you had made about positive impressions ? I'ed like to say something to people who are waiting and nervious just like I was and all they keep hearing was bad news.............thanks.........

Thanks for the welcome, I am in a another car club and we do monthly and weekly meets and was wondering if you guys do meets and trail rides together. I have always been a little import guy so I would love to meet up with some of you guys and see what you have done to your rigs.

First off, welcome to the board DMM.

I haven't been a part of any group trail rides, etc., since I was in my last 4x4 (Durango), and even that was no formalized "club" (just some friends of mine and some old abandoned logging roads in the East Berlin / Cromwell area) but would love to know:

1) Where in CT is there a good spot for some wheelin', where you're not likely to get slapped with a trespassing charge? I was at a restaurant in Canton last night, and noticed that they have a back lot with some mud and iced-over deep puddles... pretty much just a vacant little acre or two... so needless to say, after dinner my Jeep had some mud for dessert! Anyhow, these little "urban wheeling" scenarios can get a bit boring after awhile... so here's a little feedback from me:

I remember some years back, a few of my friends and I from high school went camping up in northwestern CT, at a state park - not ENTIRELY sure of the name, but I'm pretty sure it was "Gaylord State Park" (needless to say, this was really funny to us high school guys back in the day, which makes me think it was something "gay" sounding). I'm mentioning that park because it was all dirt roads, many in pretty rough shape - that was over 10 years ago, though... so I don't know if it'd still be any fun (for all I know, they paved it and just left the campsites dirt?).

2) I second the notion of a get-together. Personally, I'm pretty swamped with all the sh1t I've got going on in life at the moment, but would be happy to get together with you guys sometimes and meet for a gentle trail run - I think it's unlikely that I'll be able to talk the wife into a lift and new wheels/tires this year, so I'll be running near-stock... Here's what I'm picturing: We should wait, preferably once the warm weather is here to stay, so we can run topless... and we should also wait so that all the members that might be interested but don't have their Jeep yet (I'm thinking of you, dkooz) can be a part of it too. I'm thinking sometime late May or later, maybe on a weekend? We could meet somewhere in the state that's not too much of a haul for anyone (though we do have a small state - you can get from one end to any other point in less than 3 hours), and if we end up running near the MA or NY border, we might even get some folks from those states to join in. Any thoughts?

Also, if you know of any good spots in CT for a RESPONSIBLE wheeler to have some fun, please share - there are only so many construction sites and dirt mounds that my Jeep can tolerate before it starts begging for some REAL wilderness!
